New BUsiness

Credentialing-kristine barry

Beginning July 1st, departments will be responsible for the credentialing of their residents. GME will continue to verify information on residents who received disciplinary action during their training or were in the Anesthesiology department. Also, GME will complete all verifications received prior to June 30th. Fees for credentialing are at the discretion of the department and information can be posted on the GME webpage.

INCOMING trainee schedule – linda snell

GME will have two early bird sessions (June 21st & 26th) where residents can complete preliminary paperwork. The formal check-in will be on June 28th. During this time, affiliated hospitals will be present, HR paperwork can be completed and several other items such as lab coats will be distributed. A semi-formal version of the orientation schedule was provided at the EC meeting.

LEAVE TRACKING ON BLOCK SCHEDULE - AMY FIORAMONTE

Due to the migration of billing from the CPS office to New Innovations, it is necessary for leave to be tracked within the system. Therefore, coordinators will have to start tracking annual leave in NI on July 1st.

NEW INNOVATIONS TRAINING – AMY FIORAMONTE

Training will be held on May 14-15, 2013 in the Faculty Office Building. The workshop will follow a similar outline as previous years however new topics will be presented such as curriculum, copying evaluations and training records. However, the block schedule will be the main focus for the training session.

ADDITIONAL TOPICS

All incoming residents in a program that is two or more years in duration will receive a mini iPad. Currently, IT is adding the appropriate software to the devices. Please contact GME with questions or concerns.

Leave will remain separate as annual and sick leave instead of moving to the PTO system. However, two weeks of paid maternity/paternity leave will be available starting 7/1/13 rather than the one week of carryover leave. Leave will still be subject to program approval.

GEMS IDs will be sent via email to the incoming residents in the next few weeks by GME.

Education funds are anticipated to be $1700 per resident and extra funds from the `12-`13 academic year will not be carried forward. Deficit spending will no longer be allowed and additional funds for CODA support will not be provided. Please contact Kristine Barry with any questions or concerns regarding CODA.

Residents will be paid $200 for attending orientation/training which will be distributed among their annual paychecks.

Salary has been approved for the new academic year therefore the House Officer contracts and handbooks will be available in the upcoming weeks.

Meeting Next Month: June 13, 2013 – STC 5051C

Meeting will be teleconferenced to MDC 2301, ACH, Turley Family Center, Baptist Health and Bay Pines VA.
