East Point Elementary

Uniform Policy

As per CEIC 3/2017

In order to maintain an orderly environment conducive to the attainment of the educational mission of the Ysleta Independent School District, all students shall be required to conform to the East Point Uniform Dress Policy and Dress Code.

The uniform will consist of:

  1. An official East Point T-Shirt, Polo or Sweatshirt.
  2. Dark Blue or Black Jeans, shorts, skirts, skorts, or capris.
  3. Closed toe sneakers or leather shoes with level heels.

T Shirts/Polos:

Green or navy blue with East Point approved logos

East Point spirit shirts purchased through East Point for Fridays only

Pants:

˙Dark blue or black jeans, skirts, skorts, capris, or shorts.

˙Jeans need to fit no longer than 3 inches in any direction.

˙ Jeans may not be split or frayed on the bottom and may not drag on the ground.

˙ Jeans must not have holes, glitter or designs.

˙Cargo, Carpenter and Skinny Jeans are acceptable.

˙No jeggings, overalls, or white wash jeans.

Shorts and Capris:

˙ Same as pants with the addition of:

˙Length of shorts will be at least fingertip length for both boys and girls

Skirts, Skorts or Jumpers:

˙ Same as above

Leggings:

˙ Plain leggingsand /or tights (no lace) in SOLID colors of white, black, blue, brown or red.

Leggings with stripes, polka-dots or designs are not allowed.

Outerwear:

No oversized jackets/sweatshirts are allowed.

Sweatshirts and jackets with East Point logo may be worn inside.

The uniform shirt may be layered over a long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt or turtleneck for warmth.

SHIRTS MUST BE LONG ENOUGH TO BE TUCKED IN AT THE WAIST.

Hats:

No caps, beanies, hats or other hair/head coverings shall be worn on school grounds (unless we have special occasions where hats are allowed).

Jewelry:

˙ Must be age appropriate

˙ Hoops may be no larger than a quarter

˙ Spikes, studs, safety pins, pull tabs, paper clips, chains or dog collars are never appropriate

˙ Excessive jewelry is not to be worn.

˙ No visible body piercing with the exception of earrings worn on the ear(s) only.

˙ Tongue piercing is never permitted

Makeup:

Not appropriate and not permitted

Overall Appearance:

Clothes are to be well kept.

Fridays are reserved for school spirit shirts and/or earned *free dress day

School Club Shirt:

School club shirt may be worn on the day of the designated club meeting

Special occasion dress will be announced in advance. If you have any questions about the uniform policy, please ask before you buy!

Do Not Wear:

Open-toed or platform shoes.

Oversize, baggie, saggy, wide leg pants, low riders, below the waist, hip huggers, tight or suggestive pants

See-thru blouses or shirts

Crayola-colored or unnatural colored hair

Unusual/extravagant hairstyles

Clothing with any reference to drugs, alcohol, gangs, or offensive language or offensive pictures.

Exterior cargo pockets

Visible tattoos, permanent or removable

Anything that disrupts the educational environment

Gang related items

Bandannas/drops rags/hairnets

“Heely” shoes” (Tennis shoes with wheels)

High knee lace-up converse, boots, UGS or any shoe, which is above the ankle. These items may be worn with free dress only.

Consequences:

First and second time offense

  1. Warning and correction of uniform in office if available.

Third time offense

  1. Parent notified and correction of uniform in office if available.
  2. After school detention.

Fourth time offense

  1. Parent will be contacted to bring correct uniform
  2. Community service – 5 days
  3. Receive an “N” for obeys school rules on report card

Constant Offender

  1. Parent will be contacted to bring correct uniform
  2. Community service – 5 days
  3. Will be barred from any extra incentive activities (i.e. field trips, free dress, club activities, etc.)
  4. Will receive a “U” on obeys school rules on report card.
