Early River Valley Civilization – Group Project

Goal: You and your group have just been hired on as real estate agents for ERVC Realty. Your first assignment is to sell property in the ERVC you have been assigned. Your goal is to make someone want to live in your river valley over one of the others!

Directions:

1.  Create an advertisement (poster or electronic), using examples from (1) of the major early river valleys. Mesopotamia, Indus, China or Egypt

2.  Each ad must address at least of 3 of the following characteristics about your civilization:

Geography Economy(Trade) Social Structure Record Keeping

Religion Government Advanced Technology

3.  Use iMovie or Animoto to create a digital advertisement

a.  Or you may use classroom supplies a create a poster on paper

4.  Groups may be 1-3 people

a.  Everyone will join Ms. Armani’s Google Classroom

b.  Each person needs to save their characteristic information & images on a Google Doc in their Google Drive

c.  Remember to share the Google Doc with their group with editing rights

5.  Fill out a survey (each partner needs to fill out a survey how the group worked together on the project)

The final product must include:

•  A slogan summarizing your civilization’s most outstanding feature

•  3 catchy statements describing positive aspects of the civilization (one for each characteristic you choose)

•  appropriate images and art (fair use only)

You must use words AND pictures to advertise your civilization. You may also upload appropriate music. But remember – this is an advertisement!! Just saying that a civilization “has a polytheistic religion” is BORING – be creative in how you word everything… Make it exciting!

Grading: This will be graded on the accuracy of information as well as creativity, presentation and overall attractiveness. ** The most persuasive ad for the class will receive 4 bonus points on your next test**
