Generic Half Day Form Letter

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! We look forward to working with you to ensure that this year is one of personal growth and academic achievement for your child.

Please note that the district has designated several periods of recess during which there will be no school. On these days, school buildings will be closed and parents will need to make other arrangements for their children. The scheduled school closings are as follows:

  • November 22-24 – Thanksgiving Recess
  • December 25-29 – Holiday Recess
  • February 19-23 – Midwinter Recess
  • April 23-27 – Spring Recess

In addition to these regularly scheduled school breaks, schools throughout the SCSD will be participating in several early dismissal days and observed holidays throughout the year.

  • Monday, January 1 – New Year’s Day (NO SCHOOL)
  • Monday, January 15 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday (NO SCHOOL)
  • Friday, January 26 – Superintendent’s Conference Day (NO SCHOOL)
  • Thursday, February 8 - Parent-Teacher Conferences (HALF DAY)
  • Friday, March 30 – Good Friday (NO SCHOOL)
  • Monday, May 28 – Memorial Day (NO SCHOOL)
