Performance Standard 1
Introduction / Place students in a circle and ask them what a typical day is like in their lives (i.e. school, soccer practice, supper, homework.) Have them begin a discussion to determine the similarities and differences in their schedules. Also, have them talk about their responsibilities during certain times of the day. For example, 4:00 begin homework (responsibility is to complete all homework assignments before supper).
Presentation/ Discussion of Activity / Have the students select from three different schedules. Hold each one up and describe the similarities and differences of each. Distribute different types of schedules to the students and allow them to pick which one they would use best for their daily life. Tell the students that they will be working on organization and creating schedules and describing their responsibilities at school and at home.
NOTE: Enlarge schedules for special education students who are unable to write small enough. / Resource #1

Activity / Have students develop 2 schedules. One schedule would describe the times and responsibilities for school and the other for home.
