Minutes for September 21, 2016

Attendance: Dr. Zanthia Reddish, Vance Diezel, Tracy Courtney, Alison Navarrete, Michelle Campellone, Nikki Krelovich, Holly Bi, George Bi, April Maxwell, Lisa Krystofolski, Tiffany Clement, Megan Petrylak, Tiffany Lanigan, Noreen Loth, Maria Salazar Williams, Rita Sabhaya, Julia Nakhleh, Brenda Hackett

  1. Call to Order: the meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.
  2. Mrs. Cassel shared a positive experience. On behalf of her students, she thanked H&S for providing her class with sign language books. She explained how they have been a very useful resource to students and families in the Eagleville Community.
  3. Introductions
  4. Approval of June Minutes:
  5. Principal’s Report – Dr. Zanthia Reddish
  6. Thank you for an awesome start to the 16-17 school year.
  7. Back to School Night (BTSN) was a huge success.
  8. Students are beginning Benchmark testing which will take place three times throughout the year. She will be meeting with teachers to analyze the data for placement of Team Time (RTii). A notification letter will be sent home to let each family know which tier their child is in.
  9. THE NOTE PADS ARE IN!!! Look for them in the Thursday packet (9/22)
  10. Each family received a carline placard. If a family has asked for an additional placard you don’t need one and are asked to know your number at the time of pick-up and simply just tell the carline staff the number.
  11. Remember to send an umbrella or raincoat with your child on rainy days.
  12. Rainy Day Dismissal procedures will be different. Carline students will line up at the side doors near the Kindergarten classrooms instead of the front of the building.
  13. PSSA letters will be mailed out to all fourth grade parents. Last year Eagleville did fairly well last year. Scores will be publically released on October 4th.
  14. Dr. Reddish will be meeting with staff regularly (two times a month/ every other week) to look at performance of students- socially, emotionally, and academically.
  15. Dr. Reddish will be continuing walk-throughs and formal evaluations with teachers this year.
  16. Dr. Reddish makes it a point to review every student’s report card to make sure that everyone is making progress.
  17. Make sure that families have access to the Sapphire Portal. Methacton is going paperless so all report cards will be on the portal.
  18. Julia Nakhleh inquired about having a check box on the report card so that teachers are aware when parents have viewed the grades.
  19. The suggestion box will remain in the office. Please stop by and offer suggestions. Dr. Reddish’s door is always open.
  20. Upcoming Events:
  21. Watch D.O.G. Dads kickoff- Thursday September 29 from 6:30-7:30pm and begin in October.
  22. October is Anti-Bullying month. On October 6th in the afternoon, there will be an Anti-bullying laser show. AM Kindergarten will be invited back to view the show.
  23. Classroom Fall Festivals will take place on October 31st.

  2. BTSN was a huge success. There was a lot of positive feedback about the “Internet Café” in the front of the gym for families to sign up for e-alerts.
  3. There is a new “Hot News” page on the HSA page where families can find current events. This is where the Thursday e-alerts come from.

  2. Update on Homeroom Captains and Helpers
  3. We are still in need of volunteers. There are several teachers who do not have any volunteers for these roles.
  4. Methacton Coordinating Council (MCC) meeting was September 12th. The ESL BTSN has been moved to later date.
  5. “Up Close and Personal” will be at monthly Methacton School Board Meetings. Each school will be assigned a month and will do a short presentation about the happenings at the school
  1. Treasurer’s Report: George Bi
  2. The Executive Board met prior and voted 6 to 0 approving Mr. Keffer’s mini-grant request.
  3. We are currently looking into writing a WalMart grant where Eagleville could receive $2500 in the form of gift cards to buy additional supplies for the school
  4. MCC approved for Non-profit organization
  5. A question was asked about adding a “Grant Writer” position.

  2. Teachers extend a BIG Thank you for the $100 HSA has gifted to each teacher for necessary supplies.

  4. All mandated health evaluations will be listed on the Sapphire Portal after January 2017 instead of sending a letter home.
  5. Clothing Donations greatly appreciated
  6. Mrs. Heebner- Library
  7. Book Fair start 9/26- 9/30. Family night is 9/30 from 6-8 pm. Reminder to include tax when sending in money. Online orders are also accepted. Volunteer forms will be sent out.

  9. Asking for those picking up know their number if they don’t have the placard. Families may make their own – write the number LARGE enough to see.

  3. Walk-a-Thon: October 11- Chair Dina Lampe
  4. Permission slips are on the 3rd page. Additional slips will be going out again
  1. Main Street Pizza Dining- Out—Vance Diezel
  2. We raised around $100- exact money not tabulated.
  3. We are still in need for the following Committee Chairs, if you are interested contact April Maxwell.
  4. Spirit Wear- take and organize orders and communicate with Vance Diezel
  5. Family Game Night- April 7 from 6-9
  6. Co-Secretary for AM Meetings- 9:30 am

  2. 211 members on Eagleville’s Facebook page
  3. As a reminder, the Eagleville Facebook page should not be used to discuss issues with teachers or transportation complaints, etc. but rather to promote school and HSA events. Frequent offenders will be warned and potentially removed from the group if behavior persists.
  4. Help Wanted:
  5. Manager of Lunch Duty- send out blasts when there is availability to volunteer at lunch.
  6. Picture day volunteers
  7. Yearbook volunteer
  1. Old Business
  2. Vance Diezel suggested starting a year book club for 4th graders. This club would meet after school to design the pages of the year book. More to come.
  3. Vance also suggested the KidStuff book fundraiser again as it brought in over $1300 last year. It was tabled to the October meeting after discussing with faculty.
  4. New Business
  5. Megan Petrylak and Lisa Krystolfolski have also volunteered to help another with the data entry for the School Directory.
  6. Lisa Krystolfolski volunteered to Chair the Homecoming Parade on October 8th at 9 am.
  7. Reminder that volunteer forms and clearances need to be handed in in person to Mary Mandia.
