Waiting…..

Well, it is hard to believe that we are almost ready to start our Christmas vacation! We hope you enjoyed the Christmas program last week. The children did a wonderful job, and we are so proud of everyone for their hard work, and the gift they gave to their families, and to Jesus. If you are able to donate a gift towards our Adopt-A-Family, please send it in by Thursday, so that we can begin to wrap the gifts.

There are many fun activities coming this week. We will continue with our Random Acts of Kindness, celebrate the third week of Advent with "joy,", and go on our field trip on Friday, to see "The Biggest Gift." Remember that we will be taking a bus, and leaving about 8:30. If you are a chaperone, please try to arrange carpools. Please meet Mrs. VanderKlugt outside of room 2A at 8:10 for instructions. Also, you will be responsible for ordering and paying for your own lunch; the student's are taken care of. We will be seeing the play first, at 9:30, and then walking to Skipolini's for lunch. Children may wear free dress on Friday. We ask that they dress in their "Sunday best,"- no jeans, for this field trip. It is a nice chance to dress up, and take a holiday class picture. We will arrive back to school between 1:00-1:30. Please know that when we return to school, we will have a full afternoon. We ask that you allow your child to finish the day. On Monday, December 19th, we will have our "Christmas Pajama Party," with our 7th grade buddies. Students may wear pajamas, or sweats. Please remember to wear pajamas or sweats appropriate for both school, and the weather. Students need to wear tennis shoes or rubber soled slippers for safety. This is a great day of fun hosted by our 7th grade buddies, and it is a wonderful way to spend time together. On Tuesday, December 20th, we will have a "Polar Express Day." More information, along with an invitation will be coming home soon.

During our Superkids time, we will work with the

–kn/g/n sounds, and learn to use a dictionary. In our GoMath book, we will break apart addends as tens, and ones, model regrouping or addition, and model and record 2-digit numbers. If your child has not yet mastered their addition facts, please go over them, nightly. We will also write about the gifts we can give Jesus. During Religion class we will continue on our journey towards Reconciliation by discussing how Jesus saves us.

We wish you a blessed Christmas, and we hope you have a wonderful holiday with your families,

Blessings,

Mrs. VanderKlugt & Mrs. Bento

GRANDMA JACKIE'S CORNER……..

Dear Parents,

I hope you were at the Christmas program last week. It was so delightful and the children were adorable. I know that as we grow older we think "another Christmas program" I have to attend but each one is wonderful in its own way!!! I so miss the ones my grandchildren down south are in!!! I watched children's face and saw their excitement and joy. Is there nothing better than singing Christmas songs?

This is just one way to prepare for the birth of Christ. I wonder if you have yourown family traditions as a means of preparation. I'd like to share one of mine. I have a tiny, tiny manger set that came from Germany. The pieces are about 3/4 inches tall and are very old. When my housewas completely decorated, I placed the set in the middle of my hutch. It was

amazing that every morning I wouldlook atit and discover that one or more of the pieces was in a different place. I would moveit back to the original setting and the next day, it would be moved again. I was never quite sure which of my 3 children thought they had a better idea, but you might check with the principal as he was certainly part of the group and he could probably tell you who moved it!!!!!!! It stays intact these days and I often look a manger set and miss the days where that was so important to my family.

Take time if you don't have one to create something around the Baby Jesus that you can cherish forever. Because isn't that what Christmas is all about!!!!
