DRESS AND APPEARANCE (DAYSIDE AND NIGHT SCHOOL STUDENTS)

This dress code is adopted in the interest of developing and maintaining a student body that is neat and clean. When

violations occur, the principal/designee will inform the student of the violation and instruct him/her how to correct the problem. If the student then fails to conform, the principal/designee will schedule a conference with the parent/guardian to review the written policy and the disciplinary action imposed.

  • Clothing should fit at the waist and all shirts must be tucked in at waist level.
  • Students may wear crew neck sweatshirts, sweaters and pullovers (and must be tucked in)
  • Hooded shirts (or hooded shirts with the hood cut off) and jackets that zip all the way down are not allowed.
  • Pants MUST be worn at waist level. No excessive sagging or tight pants will be allowed.
  • All students must wear a belt with pants that have belt loops.
  • Gym shorts, yoga pants, and sweat pants are prohibited.
  • All clothing must be of appropriate size and not have holes or be ragged in appearance.
  • Halter tops, spaghetti straps, muscle shirts, cut-off t-shirts, off-the-shoulder garments, see-through or mesh type garments, or any tops that expose cleavage or the midriff are prohibited.
  • No undergarments or pajamas may be worn as outerwear.
  • Body or tongue piercing, other than ears, or unnatural hair color including but not limited to blue, green, red, and orange are prohibited for all students.
  • Visible tattoos are permitted with the exception of any gang or bias related sign or symbol which reasonably appears to offend, victimize, or intimidate another based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin, and/or which disrupts or interferes with the educational setting and/or process.
  • Sunglasses will not be allowed in the classroom.
  • Casual dress shoes, athletic shoes and dress sandals are allowed. All sandals must have a back strap.
  • No house shoes, flip-flops, or moccasin style shoes are allowed
  • Outdoor jackets and winter coats are not allowed in the classrooms (must be kept in student locker).
  • Book bags/purses are not allowed in the classrooms (must be kept in locker).
  • Accessories that could double as weapons are not allowed to be worn or carried.
  • ALL gang related apparel is prohibited.

The presentation of unsanitary body conditions or the wearing of any item which disrupts or distracts from the educational process or threatens the health or safety of other students or staff members is prohibited.
