COMPETENCY

For your own protection as well as the safety of our yachts, it is important that our bareboat charterers be well qualified. We determine this by carefully reviewing resumes of 1) the designated skipper, and 2) the most experienced crew member. We are looking for several years of well-rounded sailing experience and familiarity with sailboats or launches of the approximate size you intend to charter. Satisfactory completion of recognised boat courses is helpful, practical knowledge and experience in navigation and anchoring procedures is essential. If we need more information than shown on your resume, we will give you a call to talk it over.

We encourage applicants to request a Moorings Skipper for several days to reach bareboat qualifications or to charter a larger vessel. We reserve the right to place a skipper aboard (at charterers’ expense) if we feel the situation warrants it.
