Rubric
The above is an example of an exam paper rubric. Please refer to the Exam Paper Template document for a blank template.
Please keep the information on the front page down to about half a page, and kept as close as possible to the top of the page, in order to make the formulation of exam packets easier.
Please do not remove or alter the final two sentences (in bold).
Page numbering
The exam paper should always be page-numbered (excluding the rubric) and contain the exam code on every page. Any inserts (e.g. diagram page) must also contain the exam code.
The page numbers should start from 2 (as the rubric is the first page), and should appear in the format 2 of 3, 3 of 3 and so on. Please do not use the phrases ‘Continued’ or ‘End’ in footers.
The initials of the paper setter must be on the last page onlyafter the last question, ideally straight after the last question.
Questions
The question numbering should be sequential, as should any numbered diagrams. If marks are included after questions, they should tally correctly with the section total.
Additional Inserts
There should be clear instructions on the Rubric to students about how to submit any additional inserts as needed.
Font size and type
The strongly recommended font is Arial/ Times New Roman 12.
Additional Information
The whole of each page should be used (with minimal spacing) to avoid paper wastage.
Margins: Top 2cm, Bottom 2cm, Left 1cm, Right 1cm
All text, pictures and diagrams must be in black and white, and diagrams should be as clear as possible.
All exam papers must be printed single sided.
All exam papers must be accompanied by a completed Examinations Office Question Paper Requisition Form (QPRF).
