We want our Members and Competitors to spend a thoroughly enjoyable and safe day with us, therefore we respectfully ask that the following rules be adhered to for the benefit of ALL who attend!
Exhibitor you will need to provide the WPCS with certain personal information relating to you. Your privacy is extremely important to WPCS, so we want you to know exactly how we will use that personal information. Our full privacy notice setting out detailed information about matters such as what personal information we use, for what purpose we use it, what our legal basis for doing so is and who we share your personal information with, can be viewed on our website If you would prefer to see a hard copy of our privacy notice, please ask a member of WPCS staff to provide you with the same.
SVWPCA Rules:
1 All exhibits must be registered with the Welsh Pony and Cob Society OR relevant breed society in the case of M&M exhibits.
2 No telephone or email entries will be accepted.
3 All entries must be paid before the animal will be allowed to enter the ring.
4 All colts and stallions two years old and over must be suitably bitted and led by a handler who has attained his/her 14th birthday before 1st
January of the current year.
5 Animals and property will be considered as being in the exhibitor's charge.
6 Children and dogs must be supervised at all times.
7 The Committee will not in any way be responsible for loss, damage or injury owing to accident or other cause.
8 The Committee reserves the rights to postpone, alter, cancel, divide or combine without notice, any or all events.
9 Any objection must be lodged in writing with the secretary within 30 minutes of the event, accompanied by a deposit
of £25, which shall be forfeited if the objection is over-ruled.
10 Any exhibit considered not to be under adequate control will be asked to leave the ring.
11It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to get him/herself into the ring at the correct time.
12No refunds will be given under any circumstances.
13Classes will not be held up for competitors who are exhibiting in more than one section.
14The judge's decision is final!
All entries must be paid before the animal will be allowed to enter the ring. In-Hand Entries Classes 1-20 must be received by the closing date, completed correctly; no late entries will be received! Please call the Secretary to confirm that your entry has been received if you are unsure.
Medal Awards (if applicable)
1 Medals will only be awarded to the Champion or Reserve Champion.
2 No animal shall be awarded more than one Medal in one year. Medals awarded at the Royal Welsh Show are exempted
from this rule.
3 Medals will only be awarded to animals whose owners are members of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society, who have paid
their subscription for the current year or are Life Members, or who have submitted their name for membership and paid
one annual subscription or Life Membership composition.
Ridden Classes
1 All entries must be registered with the Welsh Pony and Cob Society OR relevant breed society in the case of M&M exhibits.
2 Spurs must not be worn in any class.
3 Show canes/whips are not to exceed 75 cms. In lead rein classes, only plain or leather covered canes may be used.
4 Hard hats to the approved BSI standard must be worn at all times whilst mounted.
5 Any exhibit considered not to be under adequate control will be asked to leave the ring.
6 Animals must be four years old or over.
7 Riders of Welsh Section A, B, C and Welsh Part Bred stallions, 14.2 hh and under, must have attained their 12th
birthday prior to 1st January in the current year.
8 Riders of Welsh Section D and Welsh Part Bred stallions, over 14.2 hh, must have attained their 14th birthday prior to
1st January in the current year.
9 Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday prior to 1st January in the current year.
10 Lead rein ponies must be shown in snaffle bridle only, with lead rein attached to the noseband.
11 First ridden ponies may be shown in any suitable bridle.
12 Snaffle bridles only may be worn in novice classes.
13 Prize money – At the discretion of the Committee.
14 The judge's decision is final.
15The show expects all exhibitors to have their ownthird party insurance.
16Any person [s] on the show ground who is acting in an unfit or abusive manner towards other competitors, spectators,
judges, secretary, officials or animals will be asked to leave the show ground and no entry fee willbe refunded.

Open to M&M Small Breeds and their Part Breds Mare/Gelding not to exceed 12hh, 4yrs old and over riders must have attained
their3rd birthday onday of show, but not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current
year. Ponies must be shown in a suitable snaffle bridle with reins to go directly from the bit to the rider’s
hands. The lead rein must be attached to the noseband only, no extra attachments to or on the saddle
THE NATIONAL WELSH “BRYNSEION”LEAD REIN” CHAMPIONSHIP.
The 2 highest placed registered Welsh Sections A & B and part bred ponies (ie 6 cards) will qualify for this
Championship. In the event of either having previously qualified then it can be awarded to the
next eligible pony.
22.FIRST RIDDEN
Open to M&M Small Breeds not to exceed 12.2hhand their Part Bred’s not to exceed 12hhMare/Gelding not to exceed, 4yrs old and over riders must not have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Ponies must be shown in a suitable snaffle bridle, ponies must not be cantered except in their individual show.
THE NATIONAL WELSH “BRYNSEION” FIRST RIDDEN”
CHAMPIONSHIP. The 2 highest placed registered Welsh Sections A, B ponies and part bred’s (ie 6 cards)
will qualify for this Championship. In the event of either having previously qualified then it
can be awarded to the next eligible pony.
1st-6th in classes 21 & 22 will receive an Easter Egg Kindly donated by Powysvalley Stud
