BOD Position Description/Responsibilities 2016
Position Title: Membership Director
General Function:
Perform all duties in accordance with the bylaws.
Act as primary resource contact for new and returning members to APICS Grand Rapids Chapter.
Primary Duties:
1. New membership responsibilities:
· Make presentations at APICS functions soliciting new members.
2. Monthly Professional Development Meeting responsibilities:
· Attend monthly meetings.
· Speak regarding; membership status, current projects, welcome new members, retention, recruitment, or as the president deems necessary.
· Review info gathered at PDM for leads on new members and corrections to member’s database.
· Perform PDM duties as needed (registration, greeter, clean-up, etc.)
· Monthly Board of Directors meeting responsibilities:
3. Attend monthly Board meetings.
· Review past meeting minutes and any board reports.
· Take part in discussions of current agenda items.
4. Board Reports
· Prepare monthly board report and submit either via email to the entire board prior to PDM or in hard copy at the Board of Directors meeting.
· Include information on membership status and any special projects.
5. Budget responsibilities:
· Prepare yearly budget and submit for approval by July. Revise if necessary.
6. Database responsibilities:
· Keep current copy of membership database and provide that information to APICS Directors and services as necessary.
· Update member information with society as necessary.
7. Region meetings responsibilities:
· Attend region meetings as often as possible.
· Share membership information.
· Make presentations when requested.
8. Survey responsibilities:
· Conduct annual survey of membership; include questions on topics from all Board of Directors.
9. Membership drive responsibilities:
· Conduct an annual drive to increase membership through some type of campaign (dinner, contest, etc.).
10. SPS responsibilities:
· Attend annual Summer Planning Session (SPS) held in July.
· Prepare for transition and training of old to new board members.
11. Formulate a membership committee as necessary to assist with membership projects.
12. Resume referral service responsibilities:
· Set up committee to address service. Accept resumes from interested members and submit them for review to requesting employers, being sure candidates indicate interest in relocation and geographical locations as well as permission to provide to employment recruiters
13. Membership recognition responsibilities:
· Calculate number of years for each member from the July membership roster. All membership to be recognized initially, then only on milestone years.
· Print membership recognition certificates for any new milestone recipients (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 years)
· Recognize members from 5 – 19 years at attended PDMs until all members have been recognized.
· When members with 5–19 years are recognized at PDM, give 5 or 10 years milestone pin.
· Print and mail invitations to 20+ years members for the September PDM special recognition banquet (free to recognized 20+ members). All 20+ years members to be recognized initially, then only on milestone years (25, 30, 35, etc.).
· Order milestone pins as needed.
