Searching Specific books Example

Objectives

Show you how to search selected books in your Library. This can be very helpful in reducing the number of hits for your search term. To pick which books that you want to search you will need to create aCollection. Then you will need to selectBasicsearch and select your collection.

Step-by-step Example

·  First you will need to build a collection

1.  In the top menu click onTools

2.  In the drop down menu click onCollections. Logos4 will open theCollectiontool in a new panel.

  1. In theCollectiontoolbar click onNewto create a new collection.

4.  Now name yourCollection. Click in the name box, then type in the new name for your collection.

5.  Now in theRulebox enter your rule to have Logos4 select your desired resources:

a.  You can use rules from theExample Collectionswiki page which other users have added.

b.  Once that you have your rule set, Logos4 shows you how many books in your collection and shows you the titles.

·  Now let’s use our new collection in a Search

6.  In the top menu, click onSearch(the magnifying glass icon) to open theSearchtool.

7.  Click onBasicto select theBasicsearch method. This works for collections which contain books other than Bibles.

8.  Click on theinlink and Logos4 will show you a drop down list. Find your collection in the list and click on it.

9.  Now in theFindbox enter your search term and then pressEnteron your keyboard.
Now you can view the results which Logos4 found in your books which were in your collection.

10.  Don’t forget to set search criteria. Click on the icon to have Logos4 show you theSearchmenu.

a.  IfMatch all word formsis checked then Logos4 will look for variations to your search term. If it is not checked, then Logos4 will use a strict search for your search term.
Likewise if you haveMatch casechecked, Logos4 will look for exact case of your search term. Or if it is unchecked then Logos4 ignores the case of your search term
