BEING “FRIENDS”
THE FRIENDS OF THE DOVER COUNCIL ON AGING, a 501(c)3 organization exists to provide financial support to the Council on Aging. Our particular focus is to assist with “beyond-budget” expenses that expand and enhance the programs of the COA.
During the past year “Friends” have
Purchased a hearing loop and paid for its installation in Room 108 at the Caryl Community Center
Funded buses for COA outings like the day long trips for the Cape Cod Canal tour and the Newport Flower Show as well as overnight trips to New York City and Montreal
Provided “Sand for Seniors” during the harsh winter months
Provided gift certificates as door prizes at luncheons
Funded Lifetime Learning classes for all of Dover’s residents
Purchased 25 music stands for use with programs such as ukulele classes
Provided coffee and tea to those who visit the COA office/lounge
Paid presenter fees for COA classes
Provided yarn for the knitting group’s outreach projects
Established and furnished plaques “In Memory of” and “In Appreciation of” friends of “Friends”
To provide these benefits, “Friends” have raised funds through
