  • 1982 –1983 - Employed as a Senior Legal Assistant to the Department of Trade and Industry (UK) giving advice to Companies House (Cardiff), advising the Department, assisting in the drafting of Green Papers on company law and data protection, representing the Department in Europe at meetings of the European Council and Commission concerning the European Fifth Directive on company law and the then proposed European Directive on European Co-operation Groupings.
  • 1983 - Barrister and Solicitor in the Perth firm of Warren McDonald French and Harrison.
