The Community Food Security initiative is a collaborative effort of more than 25 public and private organizations that are working together to create systemic changes to improve food access and nutrition literacy to low and moderate income households in Palm BeachCounty. This effort is the implementation phase of the Food Security Survey which found that one in 3 low income households ran out of food before they had money to buy more in three or months out of the year. The households cited low paying jobs, lack of income, transportation problems, high utility bills, transportation and disabilities as the reasons why they did not have enough to food for a healthy active lifestyle.
