ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2016

3. Adoption of Charity Commission approved constitution – Paul Thurston
Paul explained the process of adopting this. Following questions and a discussion of the stated purposes and a unanimous vote, the constitution was formally adopted
4. Presentation of Annual Report for 2015 - Jon Gething( see attached report)
Jon listed the achievements and successes in each of our three main activities during 2015:
The school workshops have continued, working with approximately 260 children from 3- to 9-year olds.
The main achievement for the food group has been the development of the Town Garden, which has raised public awareness of Transition. The planters outside Antonios and the Autumn Apple events were also very successful.
The energy group has had a very busy year with 5 schemes completed during 2015.
Community activities included a wassail at the Millennium Garden, a picnic at Jubilee Park and a climate change event at Gordano School. We are also working with the newly formed Transition group at Gordano School.
After nearly a year-long process, Transition Portishead became a charity in December. 2015 has been a very busy and successful year
The Annual Report was accepted.
5. Community Benefit Fund Report – Paul Thurston
This is a new initiative for TP. Low Carbon Gordano is now generating revenue which will be going into a fund for community benefit. A CBF committee has been set up with representatives from Pill, Portishead, Nailsea, Long Ashton, Backwell, Kingston Seymour and Hallen. The committee has met twice, has formulated a policy, terms of reference , application forms, and criteria and has worked out a timetable for applications. It is anticipated that this year there will be £25,000 in the fund, 10% of which will be allocated to a carbon saving project in a developing country and the rest will be available for community carbon saving projects. The committee will meet again in June to consider applications.
6. Presentation of Accounts – Ann Orchard
Ann presented the accounts showing Receipts and Payments for 2015, our Surplus and Loss account for the 6 years since our inception and a list of assets up to date.
The income for the year was £1348.91, mainly coming from school workshops, donations, and Apple events. The expenditure for the year was £1435.69, which covered our public liability insurance, the notice board at the Town garden, printing costs for the climate change event and IT expenses. Balance on account at the end of 2015 was £990.
There were no questions. The accounts were approved .
7. Steering Group / Trustees
No one was due to stand down at this AGM and there were no nominations for new trustees. All existing members agreed to continue.
