4. Responsibilities:

4.1 / Serve as primary liaison to business customers and provide recommendations for improved system processes. Develop deliverables related to project initiation including feasibility studies, risk assessment, project initiation reports, staffing, project organization outline, and standards and control procedures.
4.2 / Develop good working relationships with the local customer plant and project leader; ensures that we establish excellent two-way communication communicating syncreon’s needs in order to be successful and risks where we need customer input. The objective is that a good customer relationship will ensure that both parties are focused on being successful together.
4.3 / Monitor project progress, deliverables, quality assurance, and customer service via use of syncreon Project Management Tools (see below). Report status to customer and identify and resolve risks that impact project completion. Manage time and budget for the customer, initiate action to identify and resolve problems, and ensure goals are met. Coordinates planning, development, testing, documentation, and installation of project to ensure timely deliverables, project success and quality.
4.4 / Adjusts resources as necessary to ensure project success and completion. Provide work direction and feedback to all team members and assist them in issue resolution. Provide guidance to team members on administrative and technical problems. Assuring customer service by developing team behaviors and empowering team members to plan and execute work. Assist Human Resources in staffing activities related to project.
4.5 / Develop new processes as necessary to ensure mission critical systems are completed; provide expertise in identifying appropriate methodologies for large-scale projects.
4.6 / Leads or participates in business process redesign teams.
4.7 / Prepares and delivers formal presentations to colleagues and management. Shares “best practices” for account management staff development and technical expertise.
4.8 / Follow the syncreon Project Management Procedure with a focus on:
  • Working closely together (in-tandem) with the Plant Manager elect for Greenfield locations or with the Plant Manager of existing operations
  • Ensuring that the Project EARs for launch resource costs and new capital expenditure are well documented and presented to the Executive for approval
  • Ensuring that the project team assigned is strong enough and well qualified to implement the project in question. Should this not be the case it is expected that the Project Manager would escalate this accordingly for input and support
  • Manage the Business Mapping process closely with the local syncreon Account Manager/Bus Dev representative and Plant Manager, so that we can eventually present it to the customer for input and approval. This would ensure that both syncreon and the customer have a common understanding of the scope of work undertaken
  • Management and supervision of all project disciplines and their assigned resources
  • Advanced Quality Planning – focus on ensuring appropriate Quality Operating System documentation is completed in a timely manner whilst ensuring that the operating processes are robust; which should be bought off internally by Operations and other cross-functional team members
Regularly review syncreon lessons learned from previous projects in order to focus the team in to not repeating mistakes from the past
4.9 / Develop, maintain & follow a detailed Launch Plan based on syncreon Launch Process Template with focus on the following:
  • Daily follow-up with customers to ensure syncreon get required project information in a timeframe that will allow us to be successful at launch e.g. Plan for Every Part, Milestones, Ramp-Up plans, Scope of Work etc.
  • Daily follow-up with internal project team members on the timeliness of task completion and making sure that they have the appropriate tools and support to meet their goals
  • Weekly supervision of project team meetings in order to review new customer information, discuss project exceptions/issues from each project discipline and ensure that the communication and dynamics within the project team will support the success of the project
Ensuring that any external suppliers of equipment or services for syncreon are sourced appropriately to ensure they are capable of meeting project timing and of providing a high class service
4.10 / Maintain, Update & distribute weekly or bi-weekly Flash Report for Steering Committee review so that it presents an honest reflection of the project’s status when reviewed with the Steering Committee
4.11 / Review, communicate and escalate critical project issues with VP Project Management & Steering Committee in a timely manner
4.12 / Schedule &/or facilitate project meetings (Steering Committee, Customer, Project Team [functional specific], Suppliers etc.) as required to ensure that all aspects of the project are dealt with professionally and efficiently
4.13 / Develop syncreon Project Evidence Binder, in line with clearly documented syncreon expectations and QS Standards – managed throughout the project on the syncreon Portal Server
4.14 / Manage the Project Budgets (Resources & CAPEX) – the expectation is that all budgets would be managed on or below budget. If there is any risk to this objective it would be expected that the Project Manager escalates accordingly to the VP Project Management/Steering Committee so that alternative plans can be made to either bring the budgets back on track or request further justified approvals
4.15 / Provide leadership, support & training to project team members and new operational staff – the Project Manager should ensure that the whole team works in harmony and should lead by example with a high level expectation of success
4.16 / Manage handover process to Operations (Plant Manager sign-off) at the appropriate time which will be jointly determined by Business Development and Operations

5. Accountability:

5.1 / Overall launch of the assigned syncreon operation including customer satisfaction, safety, quality, delivery, cost morale and environment
5.2 / Project Manager, in conjunction with Operations Management, decides on the direction the plant will take in terms of priorities, objectives and continuous improvement during the launch phase of the project
5.3 / Project Manager is accountable to the launch plan of the project

7.2 / Matters relating to finances that will have a negative impact on the plants cost performance
7.3 / Requests for funding that exceed the authorization for both capital and expense items.
7.4 / When assistance is required from other parts outside of the launch plan
eg. Business development, account management, finance, loss prevention

8. Knowledge Required:

8.1 / Degree - Bachelor’s degree (Masters also preferred); experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
8.2 / Experience - minimum 5 years experience in Project Management in a logistics/manufacturing environment. Operational experience also preferred. Engineering/SixSigma Background desirable.
