Reception Trip to the Cutty Sark
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are very fortunate to have been invited to try out some new Literacy and Creative Arts sessions at the Cutty Sark. The sessions will involve a storytelling workshop and craft activities. We will also have time to explore the ship.
Due to limited space we will be taking the children two classes at a time.
Yellow Class and Green Class will visit on Wednesday 13th July.
Purple Class and Blue Class will visit on Thursday 14th July.
We aim to arrive at the Cutty Sark by 10am so will leave school as soon as the children have been registered and been to the toilet. Please arrive at school on time so that we can leave promptly.
We will be walking to and from the Cutty Sark so please ensure that your child has suitable footwear for this. Please also take note of the weather nearer the time and ensure that your child is dressed appropriately. We would suggest that children bring a waterproof coat in case it rains. If it is a sunny day please make sure your child brings a sun hat and has had sun cream applied before school.
As we are walking, the trip will be weather dependent. If there is heavy rain on the day we may have to cancel.
All children will require a packed lunch for this trip. If you require a school packed lunch for your child please indicate so, on the slip at the bottom of this letter. If you are providing your child’s packed lunch please remember to keep it nut free and that drinks should not be in glass bottles. No fizzy drinks please.
We would recommend sending your child’s lunch in a backpack so that they can carry it easily and still have their hands free.
In order for the trip to go ahead we will require 13 helpers from each class to accompany us. We will be leaving promptly following the register and will return to school no later than 3pm. If you are available to accompany us please indicate on the slip below.
Please complete and sign the slip and return it to a member of the Reception team by Friday 8th July.
