The Student Government Association of Mt. San Jacinto College met via telephone conferencing, commencing at 12:30p.m. on March 1, 2011 in Room 805-MVC, and Room 200-SJC.

II. Information Items
A. Senator’s Reports
1. Jose re-announced that the Puente club is seeking volunteers for a conference at SJC for continuation school students. The event will take place on 4/29 at 7:00am to 3:00pm. Contact Jose if you can help. Also, the Puente club will be hosting a salsa dance on 03/08 and 03/15 at SJC. You may purchase a ticket in advance for $3.00 or at the door for $5.00.
2. Kenn expressed concern for parking lot security on campus. Donna suggested that Senator Tripp take this issue to the Institutional Planning meeting. Kenn also expressed concern for the deteriorating bricks and other hazards at SJC. He discussed possibilities for campus beautification. *discussion item next meeting*
B. Staff Reports
1. Donna reviewed the Shared Governance Committee meetings and who is assigned to which meeting. She will email completed list to all board members. On 03/12, there will be an “Elect Her Campus Women Win Student Training” on MVC. This training will demonstrate to students how to win a campaign. On 03/19, the “Start Smart Workshop” will take place on MVC. This workshop is designed to teach women how to receive fair pay and job opportunities. On 04/17, “Hands Across America” will take place. Two million people will join hands across California in support of community colleges. The event is a fundraiser for statewide scholarships. Donna will provide more information soon. “A March in March” will take place on 03/12 and board members who would like to participate must let Donna know ASAP. Reminder for March BBQ theme: transition from school to work. The SJC BBQ will be on 03/10 and the MVC BBQ on 03/17. *action item next meeting*
2. Sandi announced that we are still waiting for the new storage unit to arrive. The week of the SGA elections is April 11.
III. Public Comment
Albia Miller wanted an update on SGA’s participation in an Earth Day event. She discussed more ideas for the event.
IV. Discussion Items
A. SGA Leadership Banquet-Financing-Donna will review the finances from last year’s event and report back to the board. The event is scheduled for 05/12.
B. Changing the Allotment for Athletics beginning with the 2011-2012 SY-The board contemplated whether the amount given to athletics should change. Donna will report back to the board with different amount suggestions, based on current SGA sticker sales. *discussion item next week*
