DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS

General The competitions will be run in three age groups: A Group – under 25 yrs, B Group – under 17 yrs, C Group – under 14 yrs. The age of riders will be taken as at 1st January 2010.

Clubs which do not have a rider to represent them in an older age group may promote a younger rider to that group to constitute a team. Competitors may compete in one age group only.

Qualifications Horses must be 4 years old or over. Both rider and horse, but not necessarily together, must have gained at least 55% in two dressage tests of the equivalent standard, under approved judges, i.e. those accepted for the PCAT Panel for their relevant age group/grade at recognised competitions, i.e. ODEs, Shows and Gymkhanas, etc. Riders may do tests under the same judge on different days but if on the same day they must be under different judges.

Classification The total percentage of the two team tests added together will give each competitor's individual score. The competitor with the highest score in his/her age group will be awarded the Individual Championship.

The winningclub will be that club whose total score from their best rider in each age group is the best. In the case of a tie, the winning team is the one whose lowest placed member has the higher score.Clubs may have more than one team. The second best rider in each group will count towards the club’s no 2 team score, and so on.

Team TestsTwo team tests in each age group. These tests are the new EA 2009 tests.

A Group – Novice 2C and 2D. B Group – Preliminary 1D andNovice 2B. C Group – Preliminary 1Band1C.

All competitors take part in both tests. Competitors may compete on one horse only. These tests may not be called.

There is no maximum but only four sashes will be awarded. Not more than one rider may compete for a club in both these tests.

Please notify any scratchings ASAP.

Entry fees of $25per rider, plus $20 per quadrille/musical ride, must accompany the entry forms.

JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Format Competitors may, but do not have to, take part in three competitions – Jumping Equitation (JE,) the Two Round Show Jumping Championship (SJ) and a Jigsaw Relay (JR) for pairs. They may only ride in the JR if they have taken part in one of the other classes. The JE will be held before the SJ class, with the JR last.

Competitors may ride two horses maximum, but only one of these may be in grade 3or 4, however they may ride two horses in either Grades 1 or 2. If both are in the same grade they must declare which is their team horse and ride it first. They may only be considered once for a team and the horse which is the most beneficial to the team score will be counted as theteam entry if in different grades.

The order of competing clubs will be drawn and all of a club's members within their grade will ride in consecutive order. The jumping order of a club's members will be as named on the entry form.

Qualifications Horses must be 5 years old or over with the corners in wear.

Both horse and rider must have completed at least two Show Jumping rounds at recognised shows, gymkhanas or PC competitions over a course within 5 cms of their equivalent group SJ Competitionheights as below. Only one of these may be obtained at an ODE.

Jumping Equitation Championship

To be conducted over one round of a course of 8 - 10 fences, including a double (9 - 11 efforts). There is no set speed but the course should be ridden at a good canter pace, and will depend on the horse.

Show Jumping Championship

To be judged under Table A over two rounds, not against the clock with a time allowed for the first round and against the clock for the second round. The course for the second round may be identical or different and increased in size at the discretion of the CD, judge and TD. Max increase from first round is 15cm (6"). Speed 325 mpm. Competitors are placed by adding the penalties for the two rounds.

In the case of equality of the added penalties for first place, a jump-off against the clock will be held over a shortened course of obstacles which may be increased in height and/or spread. Lower places are classified by the total penalties and the time taken in the second round in the case of equality.

Classes

JE and SJ Classes will be conducted for each of grades 1, 2 3 and 4 (unofficial for juniors only).

Grade 3 will be divided into two age divisions run concurrently, i.e. in theSJ all will do the 1st round, followed by the 2nd and then the jump-off. The best placing points from either division will count towards their club’s team score. The trophy will go to the over-all winner.

Grade 4 is limited to horses ridden by riders under 14 yrs.

Two Jig Saw classes will be conducted if time permits. One for Grade 1 and 2 horses, and another for Grades 3 and 4. Please enter on form if likely to take part. Late entries may be allowed on the day.

The results of the club’s best rider in each grade will count towards the club’s no 1 team score, the second best rider in each grade will count towards the club’s no 2 team score, and so on.

Competitors will be placed from first to last in each grade. The number of their placing is scored as points. The winning club/zone will be that whose total points from their best rider in each grade is the lowest. In the case of a tie, the jumping penalties (excluding any incurred in a jump-off) of those riders will be added together, and if still equal the winning team is the one whose lowest placed member has the better score.
