Job Summary:

Big Brothers Big Sister’s mission is to increase the availability of its mentoring programs for young people throughout Australia. This is a new role, developed with the strategic aim of growing and sustaining BBBSA mentoring programs. The position is responsible for the development and implementation of integrated marketing and communication strategies. that support fundraising and services growth, to position the organisation as the leading Australian organisation supporting vulnerable young people being mentored.

This growing role is suited to an organised individual who has a genuine enthusiasm for marketing and communications. The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to write with different audiences and different marketing channels in mind. Excellent attention to detail and proof reading skills are a must as is a minimum of seven years’ experience in a similar Marketing Communications role.

The Marketing and Communications Manager will project manage communication campaigns and marketing projects from developing strategy to execution and evaluation, including regular reporting. The position will also manage relationships with service providers (i.e. creative agencies, media buying partners, etc.). You may also be required to conduct market research to inform strategies and campaigns, and keep abreast of emerging marketing and communication methods and channels including social and digital media. In this role you will be required to maintain and optimise digital assets including Big Brothers Big Sisters websites. In addition you will plan, develop, implement and manage the PR and Ambassadors for Big Brothers Big Sisters Australia.

In this role you will have the leadership and management responsibilities of the following three operational areas:

1.  Brand Development and Marketing.

2.  Communication with external and internal stakeholders, including partners, donors, staff and volunteers.

3.  National Leadership Team including development of a marketing and communications plan to deliver on the Big Brothers Big Sisters strategic plan.

Remuneration:

The salary will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful candidate. In addition to the base salary, employees receive the legislative required superannuation, annual leave loading and the opportunity to take advantage of salary sacrificing.
Skills and Experiences:

• Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in marketing/communications with minimum of 7 years’ senior experience in marketing and communications.

·  Strong analytical, interpersonal, planning and negotiation skills, along with creativity to drive success

·  Strong ability to develop effective marketing campaigns across traditional & digital channels

·  Proven ability to act as a brand advocate and drive transformation and income growth

·  Experience assessing opportunities to drive awareness and promote programs.

·  Ability to analyse customer data and market conditions

·  Innovative and be at the forefront of new technology and communications

·  Review and analyse ROI on marketing initiatives

•  Passionate and proactive approach to work, self-directed and deadline driven

•  Experience working with boards and skilled volunteers

·  Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, oral and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to liaise with people at all levels internally and externally; and

Responsibilities:

(i) Marketing and Brand Development

·  Brand - Build the BBBSA brand value by ensuring BBBSA’s strategies, solutions and messages are positioned, communicated and delivered in an appropriate manner.

·  Translate market research and insights into strategy development

·  Development of marketing goals, promotional activities and branding ensuring integrity and building awareness of BBBS.

·  Plans & Strategies - Develop and implement the BBBSA’s marketing and communication plans.

·  Develop and implement systems to support the marketing plan. Coordination of all available resources for successful execution of the marketing and communications plan

·  Create National and target market specific marketing campaigns - Develop and implement creative and unique marketing campaigns that will increase positioning, presentation and promotion of BBSA initiatives to stakeholders and prospective donors and clients.

·  E-marketing - Develop, where necessary, e-marketing campaigns, including electronic digital mails (EDMs)

·  Web presence - Manage the backend Content Management System (CMS) of the website and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

·  Reporting - Monthly reporting of KPI’s and performance targets.

(ii)  Communications with external and internal stakeholders

·  Write, produce, and deliver BBBSA’s communications: including:

·  monthly newsletter, annual report, collateral, case studies and other articles and

·  presentations (where appropriate) to ensure effective engagement with

·  internal and external stakeholders.

·  Documentation Style - Manage documentation templates to ensure consistency of style and presentation. Maintain BBBSA’s Style Guide.

·  Media relations - Maintain positive profile among stakeholders and target markets, identify opportunities, play an advocacy role with stakeholders and build and maintain media relationships.

·  Create traditional and social media strategies communication for BBBS mentoring programs in order to attract funding and other resources for the BBBS strategic plan.

·  Plan, write all communication content for different marketing pieces.

·  Manage all online social media channels.

·  Oversee - the work undertaken by Graphic Designers/Web Content management suppliers.

·  Editing - Editing of communications as required.

·  Promotion - Promote BBBSA through linkages with media, stakeholders, and partners.

·  Artwork - Create and maintain photographic and artwork library and mentor profile pictures.

(iii)  Events

•  Provide input into the planning and development of events

•  Develop and implement event marketing activities.

•  Assist the BBBSA Event Manager to organise and host events, or co-brand other’s events, to build BBBSA’s profile

(iv)  National BBBSA Leadership team

·  Actively engage with the Senior Leadership team.

·  Good supervisory skills with the ability to adapt to changing environments and priorities;

·  Contribute to the development of strategic planning for the organisation.

·  Closely liaise with the Mentoring Team to maintain a current and consistent representation of BBBS mentoring programs.

·  Assist in implementing continuous improvement of quality systems and processes where relevant to position.

Other duties

Given the small number of full-time staff at BBBSA, it is anticipated that all staff will reasonably participate in a range of duties and activities as required.

Demonstrated executive ability, knowledge and experience to:

·  Lead an organisation or group in achieving a central coordinating position. This includes the ability to successfully represent and promote the organisation as it secures its position and

identity in its chosen markets.

·  Develop and implement targeted campaigns

·  Conceive and implement marketing and communication campaigns

·  Understand above and below the line marketing techniques.

·  Brief and work closely with and managing designers, printers, and suppliers to achieve objectives.

·  Book media and work to deadlines to achieve marketing and communications goals.

·  Utilise e-marketing channels, maintain website including knowledge of Web 2.0 technologies (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) and ability to monitor accordingly.

·  Write, edit and proof read with excellent attention to detail.

·  Use Adobe Creative Suite of programs.

General Information

·  All employees are required to adhere to Big Brothers Big Sisters policies during the course of their employment

·  Big Brothers Big Sisters work involves employees being in direct contact with children and young people. Employees are required to complete police and working with children checks, relevant to the state in which they will be employed

·  Due to the nature of Big Brothers Big Sisters work, employees are required to work weekends and evenings on an occasional basis as well as attend both local and interstate face to face meetings as required
