Abstract, Discussion, Critique and Conclusion
1.Write the components to complete the social science research process (abstract, discussion, critique and conclusion).
- Use American Psychological Association format.
- The Abstract is printed in italics, single spaced, about 50 to 100 words on the topic you investigated. It includes the research question or hypotheses, the method, summary of results and meaning of the results. See an example in any peer-reviewed journal or on page 87 of the text.
- Discussion: contains one paragraph for each hypothesis that a) restates the hypothesis; b) indicates if the primary research supports it; c) offers five possible explanations from the researcher’s point of view for the results according to current perceptions, opinions, and demographic trends relating to the life patterns of individuals; the possible significance of these trends for individual and family development. Quotes primary research results.
- Critique: Summarize (five) weaknesses in the primary (not secondary) research.
- Conclusion: one paragraph for each hypothesis. The first sentence restates the hypothesis. The second sentence indicates if the hypothesis was supported by the results of the primary research. The second sentence indicates whether the results of the primary research were consistent with the literature. The remainder of the paragraph makes five comparisons between the viewpoints, thesis and supporting arguments in the literature and the results of the primary research. When drawing your comparisons, you canuse the results of individual questions or groups of questions. Quote primary research results.
- The References page must include all references, including the one for the citation in the Procedures that refers to the researcher’s development of the questionnaire in SSR #1. Use the following format.
