Residence Staff Selection 2011-2012

Overview
The RA is a full-time undergraduate student who serves as a University representative and is an integral member of the Residence Life team in managing the day-to-day operations of the University's residence halls. Responsibilities of the RA include developing a living and learning community, cultivating relationships with the students residing in their assigned areas, implementing our Jesuit and Catholic mission and vision, conducting regular inspections of their floors/area, participating in a rotating duty schedule, and assisting in the implementation of the community development model. The position is a nine-month appointment, beginning approximately 1.5 weeks prior to the start of the academic year.
Candidate Requirements
RAs must:
- Have sophomore, junior, or senior status
- Be a full-time student
- Have no active record of University disciplinary action at the time of application or during the process
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 at the time of application
- Demonstrate strong leadership and possess sensitivity for the welfare of fellow students. Experience in residence hall living is highly recommended.
Compensation
- Traditional residence hall RAs receive room and board (approximately $11, 270)
- The townhouse and apartment RAs receive room only (approximately $9,155 and $9,450 respectively)
- In addition, the RA receives a stipend of $300 per academic year for first-year staff or $400 per academic year for second-year staff
Application Deadline
The RA application deadline (including submission of references) is Tuesday, February 1, 2011 by 4:30 p.m. This will ensure candidates have more than enough time to thoughtfully complete their application.

Study Abroad Students
If you will be abroad next semester, you are still eligible to apply for an RA position. You will not participate in the group process interview, however phone interview(s) will be conducted on your interview date(s) or an in-person interview can be done before December 18, 2010.
