This workshop is designed as a basic introduction to CMH finance, requirements and forms for new CMHSP finance officers. For experienced finance officers, it is refresher course on various aspects of the CMH finance world.
Objectives include:
•Participants will have a basic understanding of CMH finance, coding and ability to pay requirements
•Participants will have an introduction to the completion of various cost settlement for CMHSP.
•Participants will understand compliance audit requirements and how to meet them.
9:30 am to 10:30 am / Basic Introduction to CMH Finance
-Gary Smith, COO, Allegan County CMH Services
During this hour we will cover a brief overview of the history of CMH financing, and a general discussion of funding sources, and what they do (and do not) pay for. Mr. Smith will also cover the various rules and regulations governing CMH financing.
10:30 am to 12:00 pm / Introduction to Coding Principles and Terms
-Pam Pully – Professional Insurance Consultants (PIC)
During this session we will cover the various codes (HCPC, CPT), and the MDHHS cost per coding document. We will also detail what adequate documentation is, as well as determining appropriate E & M codes. If time allows, Pam will review new ICD 10 codes.

This general presentation on the requirements for completing and determining Ability to Pay for consumers.
2:00 pm to 3:00 pm / Forms
Nathan Derusha, CFO, The Right Door for Hope, Recovery and Wellness
Jeff Labun, CFO, Lakeshore Regional Entity
– A basic overview of completion of forms for cost settlement, including FSR, MUNC and the total sub element, including tying costs back to general ledger.
3:00 pm to 3:15 pm / Break
3:15 pm to 4:15 pm / Compliance Audits
-Derek Miller, CPA, Roslund, Prestage & Company, P.C.
A brief presentation on compliance audits and their requirements, including what auditors test for, and common errors and mistakes that are found.
4:15 pm to 5:00 pm / Q & A Roundtable
This roundtable discussion will address any unanswered questions from the day’s sessions, or other concerns.

Cancellations must be received in writing at least 10 business days prior to the event for a full refund less a $25 administrative fee. If cancellation is received less than 10 business days prior to the training, no refund will be given.
