ANNOUNCEMENTS
Instruments-Please remind students to keep their instruments inside the classrooms. The instrument repair unit has been shut down and if instruments are damaged, they cannot be fixed.
Requesting Substitutes- I received some clarification regarding requesting subsitute coverage and RIF'ed teachers. Classroom teacherscanrequest whoever they want to cover their class. Selection should be made based on who will best deliver instruction to your students. Therefore, you may use any sub from our preferred list. If teachers do not request a particular sub, the Subfinder system will assign a RIF'ed teacher to the position.
Library- We have not been assigned a library aide. District Policy states that books cannot be checked out without an assigned library aide. We have made numerous calls and left messages but have not heard back from classified personnel. Please remain patient as we continue to resolve the library aide situation.

Respect means: Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule • Be tolerant of differences • Use good manners, not bad language • Be considerate of the feelings of others • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone • Deal peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements.
Our focus trait for October is Respect. Lesson plans can be found at http://charactercounts.org/resources/index.html and for check out from M. Pierce’s office. Remember that in order for a student to be disciplined, he/she must have been taught good behavior through modeling and direct instruction. If you would like M. Pierce to schedule a lesson for your class, please leave a note with a description of the “problem behavior’ you are seeing.
