CALVARY COMMUNITY CHURCH

EARLY CHILDHOOD CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

For children from birth to Kindergarten

This is a child-oriented place to meet God and worship Him. We strive toward a Bible-based, safe, relational and fun approach to sharing Jesus Christ with children and their families.

Ministry Overview:

Once you have checked in at one of the check in stations, please take your child to worship in the sanctuary and then bring them to the children’s area when prompted on the screen.

SonRise (birth to 24 months)

A cheerful, bright and colorful place to be. Volunteers care for your children by sharing music, interacting with them and providing a safe, caring environment.

SonShine (2 & 3 years)

Blending Bible concepts and hands-on play allows these children to encounter the precepts of God. Bible stories, play centers, songs, activities, crafts, and much more help to build the child’s spiritual foundation.

SonBeams (4 & 5 years)

A variety of methods and activities are used to help these children engage in God’s Holy Word. Music, play centers, puppets, multi-media, story, crafts and activities allow the children to interact with God’s Word as Jesus Christ becomes more important to the children.

Things for you to know:

1. All children begin the worship experience with their families in the sanctuary. The rooms open to receive children 15 minutes after the gathering begins. A message on the screen invites the children to go to their worship areas.

2. Caregivers* sign their children in at the check in stations, where they receive a name tag for the child and a matching claim tag which is kept by the caregiver and required to pick up the child.

*Caregivers refers to the adult person including grandparents, aunts, uncles, or family friends accompanying the child.

3. A paging number is on your claim tag. If your child needs you at any time during the gathering, the number on your claim tag will be displayed in the bottom corner of the screen in the sanctuary. Please proceed to the welcome desk to be directed to your child.

4. Please pick up your children promptly after the gathering. You must show your claim tag to the room volunteer who then matches it to the name tag on the child.

5. Children are expected to follow the directions given by the volunteer staff. Please encourage your children to do this. Any correction or management needed will be done in a positive manner with care to protect your child’s self-esteem. Caregivers will be contacted if the child becomes extremely upset or is unable to participate constructively in the activities.

Program Expectations:

The children will worship in a manner that will encourage their independence, creativity and ability to mature and be nurtured in the growing knowledge of God’s love.

ILLNESS POLICY:

Out of concern for all children and volunteers at CCC, please do not leave children with symptoms of illness in Children’s Ministry.

A child’s symptoms may include, but are not limited to, fever, runny nose, sore throat, questionable rashes, coughing, and diarrhea.

A child with a “clear” runny nose may be permitted to attend class at the discretion of the room volunteers.

Please remember frequent hand washing prevents the spread of illness.

Volunteer Staff:

To ensure the best possible experience for your child, Calvary Community Church has established policies and procedures, including security screening, for the selection of volunteers and for their training and development.

Please affirm these volunteers for their ministry to your children.

Emergency Evacuation:

In case there is an emergency evacuation of the building, please meet your child in front of the building with the red awning on the west side of the building. Your cooperation with this is very much appreciated as your attempt to get your child from the childcare facilities or as the children are being evacuated will hinder the evacuation process and perhaps put people’s lives at risk.

How can you help enhance the children’s experience?

1. To help your child be comfortable, attend on a regular basis.

2. Register and/or check in your child properly by completing all the information requested of you.

3. Be sure to label all your child’s belongings and leave personal toys at home to avoid loss or breakage.

4. Get to know the volunteers involved with your children.

5. Take the time to volunteer in your child’s room.
