SHOULD INCLEMENT WEATHER CAUSE THE PARADE TO BE CANCELLED, CONTACT WILL BE MADE NO LATER THAN 3:00 AM, SATURDAY OCTOBER 19, 2013.

“SEA OF ORANGE” PARADE ENTRY RULES
**All entry ideas must be approved by the Homecoming Executive Committee. **
- Participating organizations and departments must submit entries to the Homecoming Steering Committee no later than Wednesday,October1, 2014in the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center, by 4:30 p.m. ABSOLUTELY NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Notification of acceptance or denial will be given no later than October 7, 2014. Special early approval arrangements may be made for those organizations needing to begin work before the notification date. Call the Homecoming office for details at (405)744-5410.
- Entries must include a detailed sketch/description, including the maximum anticipated speed traveled during the parade and maximum number of participants. Failure to supply a detailed description may cause your application to be denied. This information is necessary to complete the line up and staging.
- Floats may not exceed 50 feet in length or 15 feet in height. In order for a float to be eligible for placing, it must complete the parade in sequence. Human power will be allowed for any type of parade entryother than float. No float may be human powered.A 10-minute delay of the parade or over a two-block gap due to breakdown or inability of the entry to keep up with parade pace will cause disqualification and removal of the parade entry. If a parade float is not operational, it will not be judged.
4.A fire extinguisher must be available on the parade float and must adhere to the safety rules set forth in the Fire and Safety Regulation Packet. The Website is located at:
5.DO NOT LEAVE FLOAT OR ANY OTHER ENTRY UNATTENDED AT ANY TIME!!
- A representative from each group must attend a mandatory safety and general information meeting.Packets and Line up numbers will be distributed at this meeting. Absence will result in disqualification of Parade entry and forfeiture of entry fee at the discretion of the Parade Steering Chair and Homecoming Executive Committee. THIS MANDATORY SAFETY MEETING WILL BE IN THE STUDENT UNION LITTLE THEATER ON WEDNESDAY OCTOBER15, 2014AT 7 P.M.
- No candy shall be thrown from any entry. People walking along the curbside may distribute candy or other approved items. No person should stand on the roof, hood, fender, or bumper of any moving vehicle.
- No literature may be handed outpromoting the group or its causes.
9.Entries should focus on celebrating OSU spirit history, OSU Homecoming and the Homecoming tradition. It is suggested that the entries also adhere to the general theme of OSU Homecoming, “The Experience,” and maintain a family entertainment orientation. The OSU Homecoming “Sea of Orange Parade” is not an opportunity for you to promote your organization or your cause; it is an opportunity to promote, as stated above, OSU, OSU Spirit, OSU history, OSU Homecoming, and the Homecoming tradition. We playthe West Virginia University Mountaineer’s, whose colors are blue and gold.
10.The Homecoming Executive Committee reserves the right to reject any proposed entrant whose application fails to comply with the specific and general themes of the Homecoming Parade. Furthermore, the Homecoming Executive Committee reserves the right to reject any proposed entrant whose entry is obscene, is patently offensive, offers no value to the community, and/or may subject the committee to liability.
11.There will be an entry fee that must accompany the application. Entry Fee information can be found on the application form. Please make checks payable to the OSU Alumni Association.
** The Homecoming Executive Steering Committee is a private organization that coordinates the Homecoming Parade for groups or individuals desiring to display entrants consistent with the specific and general themes outlined above and who promote university spirit.
