Project: Funds approved to financealterations and improvements at various community colleges (Project Number: BI-CTC-9000). Work includes replacing the sewer lift station at QuinebaugValleyCommunity College in Danielson, and emergency/minor capital projects as needed.

Project: Funds approved to finance additional costs associated with a project for a new science and art building at NorthwesternConnecticutCommunity College in Winsted (BI-CTC-378). The project consists of a new 32,000 gross square foot building, window replacement at Greenwoods Hall, and related site improvements.

Project: Funds approved to award a construction contract to renovate the student rooms at Fairfield Hall at WesternConnecticutStateUniversity in Danbury (BI-RD-233). The project consists of a comprehensive rehabilitation of student rooms including new wall partitions, ceilings, lights, flooring, doors, hardware and associated finishes. Also included are electrical, mechanical, telecommunications and code compliance improvements.

Includes remediating mold and repairing windows, and converting space to a Technology Lab at the Westside Classroom Building; developing an Academic Success Center at Higgins Hall; renovating space for a Theatre Costume Area at Berkshire Hall, and emergency/minor capital projects as needed.

Work includes repairing mechanical and electrical systems, energy conservation and code upgrades, upgrading classrooms, minor space improvements, replacing door hardware, repairing and replacing sidewalks, upgrading bathroom, upgrading corridors in academic buildings, and emergency/minor capital projects as needed.

This branch of the system – from the North Heat Plant to Webb Hall – provides domestic hot water and heating to the Smith Library, Webb Hall, and the SouthResidentialVillage.

The project also includes a new 4,350 square foot greenhouse to be used as a biological research facility.

DPW REQUESTS FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) FOR ARCHITECTURAL / ENGINEERING AND PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES

The state Department of Public Works has been authorized to retain consultants/firms to work on the contracts/projects described below.

Qualification submittal deadline: July 25, 2007.

ARCHITECT AND CONSULTANT DESIGN TEAM: Contract Number: BI-2B-256-ARC. To design a 6,000 square foot facility to house the laboratory operations of the Department of Environmental Protection’s Water Bureau and Radiation Division. These functions are currently located at 10 Clinton Street, Hartford, CT and will be relocated to 9 Windsor Avenue, Windsor, CT, a facility that presently houses other DEP laboratory operations. The construction budget for this project is $2,587,500.

DPW REQUESTS FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) FOR DESIGN-BUILD SERVICES

The state Department of Public Works has been authorized to retain consultants/firms to work on the contracts/projects described below.

Qualification submittal deadline: August 8, 2007.

DESIGN-BUILD: Contract Number: BI-Q-588-DB. To design and build Phase I of the Connecticut Army National Guard Regional Training Institute at CampRell in Niantic, CT. The project includes site improvements, utilities, demolition and new construction. The new facility will be 83,000 square feet, multi-story, and serve four general functions: administration, education, dining and billeting. This is phase I of a two-phase program and must have provisions to expand another 65,000 square feet at a future date. The building will be LEEDS Silver-certified. The total cost of the Phase I facility scope of work is not to exceed $30 million.
