DUE: End of class, Friday, November 21st, 2014

For this project:

1. Assume you have just found your first job as a High School Student at an employer of your choosing.

2. Use the Internet to do research and determine the average hourly wage for your type of job. Assume an overtime rate of time and a half.

3. Use the Internet to research examples of Time Cards. Using a program of your choosing (Word, Excel, Publisher, Google Doc, Google Spreadsheet, etc.) design and fill out your weekly Time Card, assuming you work 40 hours of straight time, and 12 hours of overtime.

The Time Card shall show at least the following:

a. Employer’s name, address, and phone number

b. Employee’s name

c. The Date of each day of the week you worked

d. Time In and Time Out in the morning

e. Time In and Time Out in the afternoon

f. A lunch period should be evident between the Time Out of part 3b and the Time In of part 3c

g. Hours worked per day shown

h. Hours worked per week shown

4. Assume you are:

a. Single

b. No dependents

c. You paying $10 per week in union dues

d. You are paying 5% of your Gross Income into a 401K (NOTE: this has to be deducted from your pay prior to calculating your taxes).

e. You are paying $15 per week in Group Health Insurance

5. Use the Internet to research pay stubs/statements. Make a pay statement for the last week of the year. Include in the pay statement:

a. All of the weekly deductions and pay calculations and

b. All of the total yearly deductions and pay calculations

(Use Google to search for “FICA Percentage 2014” in order to get Social Security and Medicare deduction percentages)

6. SHOW ALL CALCULATIONS ON A SEPARATE PIECE OF PAPER.

7. The project will be graded per the “Gross and Net Pay Project Grading Rubric” rubric. (Provided separately)

8. IF THE CALCULATIONS ARE NOT CORRECT, YOUR PROJECT MAY (WILL PROBABLY) BE

RETURNED, UNGRADED, FOR CORRECTIONS!
