PROPOSAL TO ADDRESS GEN ED COMPUTER LITERACY OUTCOMES THROUGH PROGRAM COURSE WORK
This document provides a means by which representatives of CNM degree-granting programs can request CCC approval to substitute program course work for IT 1010 to address the General Education Computer Literacy outcomes. If approved, programs assume responsibility for assessing and reporting their students’ progress toward these outcomes within the context of the program’s 5-year assessment cycle plan.

In the first column of the table below, please identify which course(s) and/or program component(s) will be used to develop the Computer Literacy student learning outcomes (SLOs). If Computer Literacy outcomes are tied to program SLOs, please identify the program SLO by number and statement.

Utilize technologies for the management of information and in the delivery of patient care.

Students turn in most assignments using word processing software.
Students are trained in the utilization of five major nursing databases.
Students are referred to appropriate remediation resources when needed.
Students learn about privacy laws that extend to electronic information. / Document inter-ventions using available technology. / Students describe the different types and character-istics of communication in professional nursing practice.
Level 2: Utilize informatics for well patient care. / Students complete homework assignments housed within an external web-hosted service.
Students prepare and formally present ideas, concepts, and evidence-based findings to peers.
Students access multiple external data sources to identify health disparities at regional, state, and national levels.
Students continue to use databases.

In the table below, please enter the program’s entire 5-year assessment cycle plan with any revisions needed to assimilate the Computer Literacy outcomes assessment. All courses and/or program components listed in the table above must also appear in the 5-year cycle plan. Any of the Computer Literacy outcomes not tied to program SLOs (as identified in the table above) must be added as separate rows in the assessment cycle plan. This updated version of the cycle plan is to be used for future assessment reporting.
