The Management and Administration of Dental Foundation Training

1. Aims and Expected Outcomes
Aim
To organise and deliver the Dental Foundation Training Programme taking account of the NHS requirements and developments and in alignment with the performer list entry requirements, and to monitor the professional development of DF Trainees on the Scheme.
Expected Outcomes
· Provision of a programme appropriate to allow the completion of the Dental Foundation Training Year – The trainee should be eligible to practice unsupervised as a principal within GDS.
· To work as an integral part of the DFT Programme team to develop quality based DF Training in the HEEoE LETB.
· Maintain good control of the DF training budget
2. Service Delivery
Requirements are as follows:
Dental Foundation Training Administrator
· Assist with organising and implementing the Foundation Dental teaching programme, developing processes to improve the running of the programme and auditing the programme as necessary and in line with HEEoE guidelines.
· Assist with the booking of speakers, speaker contracts and collating course aims and objectives to create course programmes and handbooks
· Responsible for collation and analysis of evaluation and information on delivered courses for Quality Assurance and providing written reports on request of TPDs
· Responsible for ensuring targets and information requirements of HEEoE are met
· Maintaining the efficient flow of information to and from all Dental trainees, trainers, and speakers
· Booking and assuring availability of rooms, skills rooms, equipment, facilities etc. necessary for the delivery of planned training, education and courses
· Responsible for maintaining effective use of the dental financial budget and agreeing appropriate improvements
· Collating, analysing and providing financial information in report form for the Dental Foundation Programme Directors on request
· Assist with the organisation and delivery of the Local Appointment Event
· Actively engage in the development and implementation of new measures to improve quality and streamline processes in the delivery of Foundation Training
· Responsible for providing an excellent customer focused service, including dealing with visitors, telephone and written enquiries and taking action as appropriate.
· Ensure compliance with all Trust policies, and those procedures relevant to the area of work including confidentiality and data protection, and ensuring quality standards of the department are maintained.
· Any other specific tasks as deemed appropriate by the Dental Foundation Programme Director
3. Quality and Performance Standards
Key Performance Indicator (KPI)
Records of course evaluations and planned/implemented development following analysis
Termly Quality Management Reports from TPD coving all aspects of the DFT scheme
Yearly trainee survey
Accurate accounts for the Dental Foundation Training budget
4. Activity
Performance Management Requirements (Examples below)
Dental Foundation Programme Director and administrator to ensure that all relevant data and information is available in an appropriate format for assessment by Quality Management Teams
