All About Mrs. Kasprick
Mrs. Kasprick is a great teacher at our school, but what do you know about her? Her first name is Caitlyn, a name her parents chose because they liked it, not because it was a family name. However, her middle name is the same as her mom’s and her grandma’s, so definitely a family connection there.
Brandon, Manitoba is Mrs. Kasprick’s birthplace, but she has also lived in Neepawa (also in Manitoba), Medicine Hat and Lethbridge. Her earliest memory is being surrounded by her family in her backyard. Her family includes John, her husband of one and a half years, her parents, and her siblings: Jeremy and his wife Rachelle and her younger sister Chelsea. Mrs. Kasprick’s dad is the Fixed Operations Manager (that means he manages the parts, service, detailing and body shop departments) for Lethbridge Dodge and her mom works for Statistics Canada. Amara, Mrs. Kasprick’s German Shepard – Border Collie rescue dog is the last member of her family. Although rambunctious and high maintenance she is a very loveable dog who loves the snow, her chew toys and cuddling in the morning (preferable on the bed and/or couch, neither of which she is allowed on). Mrs. Kasprick and her father are most alike; they are straightforward, stubborn, do not put up with crap from others and like things done a certain way. The last item is a small part of what makes her a great teacher.
Learning for Mrs. Kasprick happened in several schools including Hazel M Kellington School in Manitoba, Mother Theresa, St. Mary’s and Notre Dame in Medicine Hat and the University of Lethbridge. Did you know Mrs.Kasprick has a double major in Kinesiology and Art? Pretty impressive! Her grade 4 teacher and high school gym teachers inspired Mrs. Kasprick to become a teacher –her greatest accomplishment so far.
When not coaching elite girls hockey, Mrs. Kasprick enjoys reading real life stories about other people. Her favourite fiction is J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. Mrs. Kasprick enjoys hockey, camping, boating, wakeboarding, snowboarding and arts and crafts when she has some spare time. On the weekends you can most often find Mrs. Kasprick at a rink, playing or coaching hockey. When not at the rink she can be found at home relaxing with her husband, getting groceries, or marking. Mrs. Kasprick prefers country music but also listens to popular new hits and rock music. As for television programs, Mrs. Kasprick loves watching Grey’s Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder. Other favourites include Hawaii Five-O, Gotham, Walking Dead and Criminal Minds.
The best thing, well, person in this case, that has happened to Mrs. Kasprick is her husband John. He supports her in everything she does and grounds her. On the other hand, the worst thing that has ever happened to her happened in 2009. In her first year at the University of Lethbridge, Mrs. Kasprick’s beloved grandma (her mom’s mom) passed away in early September. Twenty days later her great grandma (her mom’s grandma) passed away. This resulted in many eight and a half hour trips to Manitoba in a very short time span.
Nice, Monaco, Paris, London, Rome, Athens, the Vatican, Chicago, St. Maarten, Jamaican and Disney World are all the places that Mrs. Kasprick has visited. If she had a choice, Mrs. Kasprick would spend more time travelling with her husband. Seeing the world is a goal that she hopes to achieve in her lifetime.
Mrs. Kasprick describes herself as a caring, well organized person who makes decisions for the best of all involved. I would agree with her self-description! She draws and bakes very well. Interacting with the kids and creating relationships are things that Mrs. Kasprick likes best about school. Marking is liked least. If Mrs. Kasprick was granted one wish it would be for peace on earth. Meeting Ellen would be a close second; Mrs. Kasprick feels Ellen does so many good things for regular people with good hearts.
Seeing into the future would be the superhuman power Mrs. Kasprick would like to possess. She hopes to be remembered as a caring and loving person who left an impact while teaching. Finally, Mrs. Kasprick would love to improve her golf game. Although she has tried the game with her dad and brother, she just never caught on to it. “I would love to do a summer sport with my husband” is the reason that she would love to be great at it.
Learning more about Mrs. Kasprick has made me realize that we have much more in common than I thought. Maybe we’ll hit the golf course together this spring to improve our game, if that doesn’t work out, we can always watch How to Get Away With Murder together.
