2012 National Student/Athletes Awards
As a service to our stakeholders including the National Sports Associations, the Office of the Minister of State Sports cordially invites you to participate in the 2012 National Sports Awards by submitting applications for suitably qualified persons for one or more of the following awards which will be presented to winners on Saturday, September 21, 2012.
The details are provided below:
- Date of the Award Ceremony:Saturday September 22, 2012
- Venue of the Award Ceremony:Simon Bolivar Sports and Community Centre, Johnston’s Boulevard
- Period under consideration:July 2011 – June 2012
- Age Range under consideration:Under 18 years of age during the period under consideration
- Types of Sports to be considered for awards:
a)Physical Sports – competitive sports requiring physical activity
b)Mind Sports – competitive sports requiring little or no physical activity to include card games and strategy board games,
- Categories:
- Top Female Student/Athlete of the Year- awarded to the female sportsperson who best demonstrates supreme athletic performance and achievement in the physical sports category.
- Top Male Student/Athlete of the Year-awarded to the male sportsperson who best demonstrates supreme athletic performance and achievement in the physical sports category.
- Mind Sports Student/Athlete of the Year - awarded to thesportsperson who best demonstrates supreme performance and achievement in the mind sports category.
- Community Sports Award-awarded to the individual or entity who/which best demonstrates the use of sports as a platform for bringing about positivechange among the youths (under 18 year olds) at the community level in the various sporting categories.
- Sponsors Honour Roll–Recognition ofsponsors who have supported student/athletes programmes in the various sporting categories.There will be no overall winner in this category.
