Trip Leader Application
Thank you for applying to be a CMC Denver Trip Leader. The Denver Safety and Leadership Committee (DS&L) is responsible for training and certifying leaders and accident/incident investigation. The Leader Certification Coordinator will review your completed application.
Please complete the application and email the application and your LIT evaluation form to mailto: . Do not send it to CMC Membership Services.
Trip leader candidates must complete one Leader-in-Training (LIT) trip at the highest classification level the candidate wishes to lead with an Instructor Leader (IL) who is unrelated to the applicant. A snowshoe trip may substitute for the equivalent level of a hiking classification
Attach a copy or provide the following information:
- Trip Leader School (TLS) completion notification date or, copy of waiver granted and date of waiver
- Current Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certificate or, copy of waiver and date of waiver; WFA must be current within the last two years from date of application
- Completed LIT evaluation
- Winter non-backcountry applicants – ATA course completion date
- Winter backcountry applicants – AIARE Level 1course completion date
If you are applying to become a Fly Fishing Leader, a Cycling Coordinator or a Ski Leader then attach the following as applicable:
- Fly Fishing Leaders completed fly fishing LIT evaluation
- Cycling Coordinator leader applicant LIT evaluation
- Winter non-backcountry ski leaders and Winter backcountry ski leaders must have a ski classification and complete their LIT with a Ski Leader; attach your ski leader evaluation. If you have not yet been evaluated as a skier, contact Jeff Flax:
