ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

Under general supervision from the Director of Finance and Administration and in coordination and with the Dane County Information Management, plan, perform and lead the skilled work in the installation, maintenance and administration of the Airport’s information technology equipment, telecommunications, wireless, cable wiring/fiber optics, building automation, safety and security systems. Oversee and maintain all electronic equipment, control devices and microprocessor-based computer systems and perform other duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Maintain proprietary airport systems including: security access control, flight, gate and baggage information systems, airfield condition and Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) reporting, runway pavement monitoring, automated public address, automated timekeeping and payroll, parking revenue control, building automation systems, scanning applications and digital photography; coordinate the repair of airport network computer servers, PCs, printers and related computers systems; coordinate the support of the Local Area Network; provide technical hardware and software support as wireless data and voice network specialist for airport Wi-FI system; manage RF communications network; program telephone system needs/requirements for terminal tenants including moves, additions and changes for voice mail and call accounting; manage and maintain airport radio program to include inventory and maintenance logs; create and maintain an electronic repair shop and initiate supply action to obtain the appropriate test equipment, repair parts or replacement; coordinate geographic information systems database with consultant-maintained systems.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Education and Experience Any combination of training and experience equivalent to an Associate degree in Electronics or related field, and three years experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of electronic or microprocessor based control systems or related electronic equipment, computer and telephone systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software, LAN/WAN concepts, TCP/IP protocols and network printer systems; possession of effective oral and written communication skills; ability to design and implement system interfaces from existing equipment to new equipment.

Special Requirements: Possession of, or eligibility for, a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.

Must pass Transportation Security Administration (TSA) required criminal history records check and employment history verification. Must be available and willing to work nights, holidays and weekends for airport emergencies and being on-call.
