Parishioners sent letter to her community asking if Sr. Jo could come back and visit when St. Pat’s members visit. Sr. Elena will be in charge. She has a 16 year relationship with the Guatemala community and will be staying there. Our parish contributes approximately $15,000 annually to the Sr. Parish. We will continue to provide support.

St. Patrick Parish will add support to an orphanage near Guatemala City run by the School Sisters of St. Francis. Accommodations are good at the orphanage; the facility can house many visitors. There are 41 children currently living there, age infant to 18.

  1. Old Business

A.Review of Refugee Resettlement Decision Making Process – The refugee team spoke to many groups in the Hudson area regarding this issue. The church web site had a strong presence with detailed information. Various media sought us out for status reports. This process concluded in a town hall meeting on January 3rd. Even though the resettlement project was taken away from our parish, the town hall meeting, with multiple Hudson clergy attending, gave momentum to a proposal to consolidate services and centralize resources for those in need in the local area. Ideas mentioned were the possibility of a homeless shelter or transitional housing within Hudson.

B.Four year old kindergarten program – St. Pat’s Parish, Bethel and Trinity were all approved to be a part of the city wide program. Registration will be starting in early February.

VIII. Closing Prayer and adjournment

Next Parish Council meeting – February 28, 2017 at 7:00 pm

Respectfully submitted,

Joy Case
