The position requirement is to uphold the Parks and Recreation site operational standards guidelines where the individual will represent Tk’emlups te Secwepemc as a campsite fee collector, supervisor and maintenance person.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Public relations and communications is an asset. The operator will be dealing with people on a daily basis.
Handling cash on a daily basis, writing receipts/permits, making deposits to TteS finance, season end finance report, ordering supplies and daily record keeping.
Vehicle pre-checks, minor maintenance if required and reporting major repairs or maintenance to department Manager.
Security, knowledge of policy and procedures.
Campground maintenance services i.e. – general landscaping tool operation, basic carpentry skills, painting, garbage pick-up and outhouse cleaning.
Incident reporting.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training/Certification
Must have a minimum of Grade 12
Must have a Valid Driver’s License
Must possess Fire Suppression Certificate
First Aid Level 1
Experience
At least one season in the tourism industry
Must have worked for one season in an area where public communications were a daily occurrence
Other Qualification, Knowledge and Skills
Adult supervision type of work;
Managing difficult people and or taking complaints in a courteous manner; answering all inquiries regarding lakes, camp areas, maps, wild life and fishing would be beneficial
Familiar with the Forest Recreation Regulation and the rules governing FS sites;and handle information requests that require knowledge of Ministry of Forests i.e. fees, regulations, fines is an assets, but can be learned on the job
Knowledge of BC’s recreation trails and the different purposes, including hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, ATV riding is a assets, but can be learned on the job
HOURS OF WORK: Normal day shift – 7 hours per day. Non – normal shift may be required.
PAY GRADE: As per current salary grid.
