Service to the Institution
2006- present Center for City Schools Project Director Gear Up/High School Matters Network ($780,000) This six-year project involves 16 Chicago Public High Schools.
2003 Director of the High School City/Suburban Network
Arthur Vining Davis Grant ($250,000). This project concentrated on three Chicago Public Schools and three suburban schools and helped them to create smaller learning communities in their high schools. This network developed a core group of teacher leaders from these schools.
Director of the Elementary School Network
Fry Foundation Grant ($25,000) (Polk Bros. $70,000) A project that placed teacher/consultants into classrooms in six schools to help teachers develop and implement classroom workshop, integrative curriculum and other student-centered learning strategies.
1996-2002Center for City Schools Teacher Consultant in the implementation of the Dewitt-Wallace Reader’s Digest Grant ($3,000,000) which at that time was the largest grant ever received by National-Louis University. This project concentrated on curriculum integration at the middle school level in 24 Chicago Public Schools. New York City and Philadelphia were also partners in the project that resulted in site visits in both cities.
