1. Background
The Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service (CCECS) builds bridges between AUB community, stakeholders, humanitarian agencies, and policymakers in order to facilitate change in marginalized landscapes and provide opportunities for Transformative Education.
2. Purpose
As part of its mandate, The Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service (CCECS) works with undergraduate USAID USP scholarship students to help them achieve their Leadership and Civic Engagement requirements which include volunteer work, leadership and career workshops, internships and community service projects.
Throughout their journey at AUB, students are required to document and present this work through reports, videos and presentations. In order to effectively do this, the CCECS is seeking instructors to provide them with capacity building on simple yet effective tools and techniques for digital video making, digital photography and creating and managing layouts for presentations and reports.
Ideally, we are seeking qualified instructors holding at least a bachelor degree in Design, Media or a closely related field, with at least one year of teaching experience to deliver material to these students.
3. Tasks
Under the supervision of the AUB Centre for Civic Engagement and Community Service, each consultant(s) will be required to provide each of the following interactive workshops:
A. Digital Video Making :
Duration: 3 hours
Beneficiaries: This workshop will be administered to 6 different groups of students, with each group containing no more than 20 individuals. (Total no. of beneficiaries= 110 students)
Description: Students will learn how to create a polished, professional video with iMovie for iOS, (or any other easy to use video editing software, compatible with a wide range of smartphones available on the Lebanese market. This will include capturing video, trimming and splitting clips on the timeline, adding transitions and titles, and working with sound. In addition to learning how to share their videos on popular sites like YouTube, Facebook, and Vimeo.
Learning Outcomes:
· Shooting with the built-in phone cameras
· Importing footage from other sources
· Adding clips to a project
· Trimming, splitting, and rotating clips
· Adjusting transitions between clips
· Adding still photos and titles
· Adding sound effects or background music
· Fading audio clips
· Adjusting playback speed
· Backing up a movie with iTunes
B. Digital Photography (3 hours):
Duration: 3 hours
Beneficiaries: This workshop will be administered to 6 different groups of students, with each group containing no more than 20 individuals. (Total no. of beneficiaries= 110 students)
Description: Students will learn the skills and knowledge required to produce high quality, well composed and creative images capturing the activities they are conducting, as per their scholarship reporting guidelines (to be shared with consultant). In addition to learning how to manage and edit and share their image on social media sites like Instagram and Facebook.
Learning Outcomes:
· Best practices for photography with digital cameras and smartphone cameras
· Understanding Composition
· Use of lighting, focus and exposure
· Controls and settings
· Image management, filters, editing and fixes
C. Digital Presentation Essentials:
Duration: 3 hours
Beneficiaries: This workshop will be administered to 6 different groups of students, with each group containing no more than 20 individuals. (Total no. of beneficiaries= 110 students)
Description: Students will learn the skills and knowledge required to quickly produce attractive, easy-to-read reports and presentations that showcase the data in a way that best suits the needs of its users. They will also learn to how best to include pictures, video and graphics.
Learning Outcomes:
· Easy to use tools and programs for designing a report
· Easy to use tools and programs for designing a presentation
· Easy to use tools and programs for designing graphics
· Best practices for designing a layout for reports and presentations
· Best practices for incorporating photographs, videos and graphics into reports and presentations
