AwtreyMiddle School6th Grade ConductManagement Plan

Objective: To maintain excellent behavior so learning will prosper

Awtreyteachers and administrators emphasize positive behaviors and reward those who exhibit the desired conduct. Teachers verbally stress both the expectations and the benefits the students will receive from following the set guidelines. The following behaviors are encouraged:

  1. Be on time, seated, and working when the bell rings.

2. Be prepared with all required materials including paper, pens/pencils, books, and the

AMSagenda. Thebehavior card should be attached to the agenda at all times.

  1. Stay on task. Students should remain on task during classroom discussions, classroom activities, written class assignments, and any other assignment given by a faculty member.
  2. Be respectful. Show respect for all adults, all students, and all school property. Rude/inappropriate language or a disrespectful tone of voice with an adult or another student is not acceptable. Misbehavior for a substitute teacher is disrespectful and will not be tolerated. Honesty is a component of the respect expectation.
  3. Follow all rules and policies.(Awtrey and CobbCountySchool Districtpolicies)

It is our experience by accentuating positive behaviors, we encounter a minimum of negative behaviors. Each student begins a nine-week grading period with a satisfactory conduct grade. Conduct and behavior is managed using a conduct card which recognizes both positive and negative behaviors. Parents and students should take time to review the conduct card which is stapled inside the students’ agendas. All consequences require the students to get a parent’s or guardian’s signature. The students will have two school days to get the notification slip signed and returned. If the notification is not signed by a parent/guardian and returned, the student will still be required to serve the original consequence and lose 4 additional points on their conduct card.

Every nine weeks each team will reward students who demonstrate commendable behavior with a reward. The requirements for earning the reward are stated on the conduct card.

If a behavior card is lost, the student will be issued a RED replacement and will lose 10 points or the original number of points previously lost in each class. Loss of the original card will mean automatic disqualification from the reward at the end of the grading period.

If a student earns ISS (in-school suspension) or OSS (out-of-school suspension), the student will be disqualified from the reward at the end of the grading period and will be disqualified from any field trips during the grading period.

We believe this plan is effective and anticipate a successful second semester with your child. As always, we thank you for your support and appreciate your cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher via e-mail or phone.

Sincerely,
