Why We Should Attend Every Service We Can
Introduction:
The church comes together as God’s people for a reason. We should view our assembling together as a privilege, never a burden. Our Heavenly Father knew how vital the services are to our spiritual lives. The difference in our lives will be quite evident.
Body:
I.To Obey God’s Commands
- Seek first the Kingdom of God. Matthew 6:33
- It is a matter of priorities. What do we put first? Where do we put the church? We must put the Lord’s church above family. Matthew 10:37-38
- Do small aches and pains keep us from services but not from other activities?
- Do not forsake the assemblies. Hebrews 10:25 (Forsake, abandon, skip) We miss the opportunities to encourage and edify one another. Hebrews 10:24, Hebrews 3:13
II. To Help With the Work of the Church
- Each member must do his/her part. Ephesians 4:15-16
- Everyone has something to contribute. I Corinthians 12:12, 17, I Corinthians 12:4-5
- Many works that are needed in a local church
- Teachers and teacher aides for all age groups
- Song leaders, those who lead prayers, those who serve communion
- Building and grounds maintenance workers
- Visiting the sick, teaching the lost, edifying weak members
- Handing out tracts, answering and grading correspondence courses
- How are you going to help the church be what our Lord wants it to be?
III. To Help Us Grow
- Attending services helps us learn more of God’s Word and become more mature in our faith. Hebrews 5:12-14
- Partaking of the Lord’s Supper, praying together, and singing all promote Christian growth. Colossians -3:16
- Regular attendance keeps us from being malnourished. I Peter 2:2
IV. To Set A Good Example
- For other Christians I Timothy 4:12
- For unbelievers Titus 2:7-8, Philippians 2:15
- To influence others I Peter 2:12
Conclusion:
There are many reasons to attend every service that you can. Let us use our time well.
