Old Business:
- Discuss vision for cemetery with Rebecca Campbell, CRW Engineers
Group reviewed the map of the cemetery site, discussed that the ideas for what will be included in the cemetery concept is a combination of cemetery committee and public at walk-thru.
Goal is to receive from CRW Engineers a conceptual draft plan to use for fundraising and community input and to work toward getting an estimate that includes the approximate costs for permitting, engineering, design for construction documents for phase 1 of the cemetery project.
Phase 1 to include:
Parking Lot on Crow Creek Road for approximately 20 cars
2 entries to allow pull through access
Include required snow storage/vehicle turnaround
Lighting (group prefers to apply for waiver for this)
Columbarium for approximately 100
Memorial wall
Burial sites (#TBA pending discussion with Rob Jones from Anchorage Cemetery)
Perimeter fence
Pavilion:
Approximately 30x30 covered area, 2 or 3 sides enclosed
Electricity
Rest Rooms vault toilet
Main trail access from parking to main amenities and to Beaver Pond Trail junction
Hard pack surface
ADA compliant
Bollards/rocks to limit vehicle entry
Bridge over California Creek
Connector trail access
Connector trails to gravesites, columbarium, memorial wall
Flagpoles
Veterans Memorial
Required 1% for art possibly use for arboretum and/or memorial to mining/mountaineers/ski history
Other items to consider
Is there a need for vehicle/equipment storage on site?
How will plowing of parking lot and snow blowing of trails be handled?
Later phases would include trails to additional sites and additional columbarium space
Girdwood Cemetery Committee is a sub-committee to the Girdwood Board of Supervisors

Heather Hall to provide map to Rebecca of known historical items on the site.
Rebecca may be able to provide conceptual draft to committee mid/late October 2017.
Group discusses holding open house in late November/early December.
- Update on Outreach with neighbors and community
Heather Hall reports that she invited Cathy Frost from Raven Glacier Lodge to attend this meeting, she included link to MOA webpage and minutes of meetings in the email she sent.
Outreach to neighbors should be addressed when next community meeting is scheduled.

Mike Opalka to provide cemetery committee update to GBOS on September 18 7PM
Mike Opalka to attend HLB meeting in Girdwood on October 10
Next Cemetery Committee meeting scheduled for THU November 2 at 1PM in the Community Room.
