St. Vincent de Paul Home Visits

Collection for St. Mary’s Food Pantry
St. Mary in Lanesville houses a food pantry that serves the needs of those in Harrison County. They are in need of toiletry items such as: toilet tissue, Kleenex, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste, tooth brushes, deodorant, soap, etc. If you would like to donate, please leave items in the bin in the narthex of Church and we will take it to St. Mary. Thank you!

HEALING SERVICE:
On March 28, 2017 at 6:30 PM, St. Mary Parish, New Albany, will host a Healing Service led by Fr. Vincent Lampert, the Exorcist for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. The service is intended for those who feel oppressed, troubled, or afflicted and who seek consolation from the prayers of the Church. Contact the Parish Office at 812-944-0417 for more information.

Rosary Club - The Len Fagan Memorial Rosary Club meets each Sunday that we have Faith Formation classes 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. We invite children and youth 2nd grade and up to join us in making rosaries for the missions. Join us for this fun time as we help others to pray.
Bible Timeline Study – The Bible Timeline study meets each Sunday in which we have faith formation classes, 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. in the Faith Formation Center. All adults are welcome to join us. Come to the sessions that you can attend. The study will include a series of videos presented by Jeff Cavins. Each video will be preceded by a lively group discussion. We will not meet this Sunday but our next session will be on Sunday, April 2nd when we will discuss “The Church (Acts 13 - 28).”
Open Gym – Our Parish Center will be open on Monday, March 27th for anyone who would like to walk, play basketball, etc. The gym will be open 9:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Please note that we request that those who take advantage of open gym please use the gym area only. Thanks for your help with this.
Monday Morning Bible Study – Our Monday Morning Bible Study will meet on Monday, March 27th, at 9:30 a.m. when we continue our study of “Beautiful Mercy.” All adults are welcome to join us anytime!
Pivotal Players – All are invited to join us as we study Bishop Robert Baron’s “Pivotal Players” on Monday evenings at St. Bernard or Tuesday evenings at St. Michael, all at 6:30 p.m. This week we will discuss Bl. John Henry Newman. Join us for either study!
Lenten Fish Fry – Those Youth who will be participating in our summer mission trip, Faith in Action, OBOC, and NCYC this fall will host our fifth Fish Fry on this Friday, March 31st, 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. The buffet will include: hand breaded fried fish, baked fish, shrimp, cheese pizza, hushpuppies, baked potatoes, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, and slaw. The cost is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 11 and under. Carry outs will be available. All proceeds will go to help our youth attend our summer mission trip, the Faith in Action serve week, the One Bread, One Cup liturgical conference, and the National Catholic Youth Conference this fall. Help us spread the word!
Baptismal Prep Class – We ask that all parents who would like to have their child baptized at St. Michael Church attend a Baptismal Prep Class before the Sacrament is celebrated. We will have a session on Saturday, April 1st, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Church in Frenchtown. You may attend the class before your child is born. For more information and to register please call the Faith Formation Office to sign up. The next opportunity will be on August 12th at St. Michael.
First Communion Retreat – We invite our First Communion class and their parents to our class retreat on Saturday, April 8th, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the lower level of the church. We will talk about how special this sacrament to us as people of faith, make bread, and spend time in prayer. A light breakfast will be served. Join us!
Easter Egg Hunt – We will host an Easter Egg Hunt for children age Pre-School – Grade 5 for the parishes of St. Michael and St. Bernard on Saturday, April 15th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard in Frenchtown. We will have the Easter Egg Hunt and then all are invited to join us for a hot dog and snacks!
Men’s Group – We will have Men’s Group on this Sunday, April 23rd at 7:00 p.m. in the Faith Formation Center when we will begin our study of the Book of Tobit. All men in the parish are invited to join us!
Senior Gathering – All are invited to join us for our next Senior Gathering on Wednesday, April 26th. We will gather in the parish center at noon for mid-day prayer and then everyone is invited to bring something to share for lunch. Our featured item this month will be Chicken and Gravy. Join us!
Operation Rice Bowl - ENCOUNTER COMMUNITY - We encounter Maria in Mexico, where a community of hardworking women share joys, sorrows and fellowship while growing economic opportunity at a greenhouse. Youth Ministry News: for prayer and rest. Pilgrims will arrive at the Archabbey Church at Saint Meinrad for Vespers at 5:00 (CDT), followed by a cookout with members of both men’s and women’s monastic communities.
Rev Bernard Koopman and Joel Van Bree Memorial Scholarships – The application for the two scholarships is now available in the Faith Formation Office. Any high school senior from St. Michael may apply for these two scholarships.
Attention High School Youth: Step-by-Step Retreat April 22-23 You have the tools now let’s dig into that treasure! This overnight retreat is a combination of faith, fellowship, meeting new friends; a faith boot camp of fundamental strengthening! Cost is $95. Deadline to register is APRIL 6TH. Registration forms are available in the faith formation office.
Appalachian Wolfe Pack Mission Trip – All youth currently in grades 9-12 are invited to join us for our summer mission Trip on June 13th – 17th. Each day we will do service work in and around the town of Campton, KY. We will live simply in community and work with Sr. Sharon Marie at Good Shepherd Parish. There will also be time to learn about the Appalachian culture. Registration forms are available in the Faith Formation Office and the deadline to submit your deposit is May 2nd (but don’t wait that long as spots fill quickly).
Faith in Action Service Week – All youth currently in grades 8-12 are invited to join us for our summer service week on July 9th – 13th. Each day we will do service work in Harrison, Floyd, and Clark Counties. We will live simply in community at Mount St. Francis Retreat Center.
