We have been wrapping up our Writer’s Workshop Unit on List and Labels. For the past two weeks we made a repeating book about someone special in our lives and this week we made a “My Wish List” book. For the wish list book we first made a picture/word list of things we want for Christmas or Hanukkah. We also learned the sight word ‘want’ to use in our story. We then took the picture/word list and turned it into a repeating book. For example, page one may say: I want a doll. Next page, I want a lego etc. The children had a lot of fun writing these books.

I math we have been working on sorting and classifying. We practiced using tally marks as we sorted objects and we record how many of each. We then discussed which had the greatest/least amounts. We also began our next topic; Understanding Addition. We talked about “groups” and “all together”. Next week we will be learning the addition and subtraction signs.

A note will be coming home on Monday about Stuffed Animal Day. We will be doing this one day next week. Start thinking about a stuffed animal to bring in but I would suggest note bringing in a favorite night time animal (just in case in got left behind at school. This could make for a long night for parents).

Our Holiday party is on Wednesday. Your child will only need an afternoon snack on this day as the morning snack is provided at the party. If your child does not like the snack being served you are more than welcome to send in your own morning snack.

Please be sure utensils are included in your child’s snack. My supply is getting very low.

Finally, just a reminder that on delayed openings your child will only need an afternoon snack.

If your child wears boots during any inclement weather please be sure to send in sneakers. Two days a week we have gym class and on ODD calendar days we go to the gym for indoor recess.

Be safe!
