A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Robert William Morgan, Sr.
WHEREAS, Robert William Morgan, Sr., was born in 1922 and was the son of the late Edgar and Emily Ruth Morgan; and he traversed these earthly bounds March 18, 2011, in Smithfield, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, Robert William Morgan, Sr., was the loving husband of Rose Marie Morgan; he was the doting father of daughters Bonnie Ruth Martin and Mechelle Annette Morgan-Flowers, and sons Robert William Morgan, Jr., James Edgar Morgan, and Peter Glenn Morgan; and he was devoted to his 16 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and he leaves behind many other family members who loved him dearly; and
WHEREAS, Robert William Morgan, Sr., was preceded in death by his daughter Vicki Ann Sebastian; and
WHEREAS, Robert William Morgan, Sr., was a World War II Army-Air Corps veteran as a B-17 Aerial/Tail Gunner and staff sergeant; he was a prisoner of war and the recipient of five Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart of Valor, and also received the FAME Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Medal; and
WHEREAS, Robert William Morgan, Sr., returned to civilian life and retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of being a rural mail carrier; and
WHEREAS, Robert William Morgan, Sr., served his community and was an active member of the Disabled Veterans of American, the KYIANA Chapter of the Prisoners of War, and Smithfield Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, the passing of Robert William Morgan, Sr., has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The members of the Senate express their profound sense of sorry upon the passing of Robert William Morgan, Sr., and extend to his family, friends, and community its most heartfelt sympathy.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Robert William Morgan, Sr.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Rose Marie Morgan, c/o Prewitt Funeral Home, P. O. Box 205, New Castle, Kentucky 40050.
