Messiah College Theatre Arts Academy 2018 – June 4 – 8, 2018. Apply online by April 30th.

The Messiah College Theatre Arts Academy (MCTAA) specializes in professional training for emerging theatre artists entering grades 3-12. Students will have a great time experiencing theatre firsthand through interactive games, creative improvisation, age appropriate scene work and even through doing a short show for family and friends at the end of the camp week! Seasoned theatre professionals and undergraduate theatre majors mentor students as they discover and hone their creative potential.

Adelphi University two-week, credit-bearing Pre-College experience! This summer, students can experience Adelphi’s personalized approach to education through their Pre-College Program. The program invites rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to spend two weeks living and learning an Adelphi’s beautiful campus in Garden City, NY, exploring a challenging and exciting subject like:

Working with their professors and instructors, students in the Pre-College Program will participate in Adelphi’s hands-on high impact learning under the guidance of industry experts. Students in Adelphi’s Pre-College Program will participate in social programming, college readiness workshops, and excursions to nearby New York City. On March 24th, 2018 from 8:30 – 4:00, the Forensic Science Student Organization (FSSO) at Cedar Crest College will hold the 16th Annual Forensic Science Symposium. The event, themed “Life inside a Crime Scene,” will showcase the reality of working in the field of forensic science. Topics include arson investigation, DNA analysis, pathology, forensic psychology and the US Postal Service laboratory. SCHOLARSHIPS

The Landisburg Lions Club plans to award two $500.00 scholarships. The club will award two scholarships to students who reside in the West Perry School District and in the service area of the Landisburg Lions Club. This scholarship must be used to continue your education at a two year, four year, or technical school. The scholarship will be paid to the recipient at the end of the first college semester after the scholarship committee receives formal notification of a minimum 2.0 GPA for that first semester. To be eligible for consideration, you must fill out the scholarship application that we have in the CC, provide requested references and submit a 300-400 word essay entitled “The Importance of Volunteering in your Community”. Penn State Alumni Scholarship has arrived in the CC. Are you going to attend Penn State? If so, please stop in for an application. This $1,000 scholarship is from the Perry-Juniata Counties Penn State Alumni Association. Any applicant who is enrolled and meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply. Applications must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2018 to William Baker, 620 Fickes Lane, Newport, PA 17074.

The Pennsylvania Assoc. of Medical Suppliers (PAMS) is pleased to announce that they will once again award a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student who has overcome physical challenges with the help of home medical equipment and supplies. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize outstanding students who have been successful in their academic pursuits while overcoming their physical challenges with the help of home medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, respiratory devices, diabetes devices, asthma devices, etc. The criteria for this scholarship are:

  • The applicant must be a resident of Pennsylvania or Delaware
  • The applicant is a high school senior.
  • The award must be used toward a post-high school education program.
