Summary
Responsible for ensuring that all business critical systems are functioning properly while minimizing downtime. Responsible for IT management and administration, procurement, security, network administration and user support and services. Responsible for implementing and supporting a business intelligence system.
Essential Duties
Additional duties may be assigned.
· Supervise all IT staff – IT Support Specialist, Lead Software Developer and Web Developers / System Analysts.
· Assist with strategic planning and recommend courses of action for technology-related improvements based on business plan and financial constraints.
· Stay current with technology developments and evaluate feasibility of using such developments, specifically cloud-based options.
· Budget for technology-related assets in conjunction with the Director of Finance.
· Purchase technology-related assets, manage assets (licenses, warranties), and develop replacement/upgrade/patching schedules for all hardware and software.
· Perform analysis and make recommendations for system improvement, upgrades, and integration, working with a consultant as needed. Anticipate problems and propose solutions to them.
· Ensure proper backups are in place, including off-site backups and perform disaster recovery testing.
· Implement, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot issues with servers, networks, storage environments, computers, and equipment and call in a certified technician/consultant, when needed.
· Work with the IT Support Specialist on hardware/software setup, troubleshoot technical issues and perform root cause analysis to reduce instances of technical problems.
· Define, communicate, and enforce technology-related policies, standards and procedures.
· Stay current with regulations/laws relating to IT (data, security, etc.) both internationally and domestically.
· Develop security incident management plans and ensure that all technology-related projects meet defined security requirements.
· Create schedules, define the scope and budget and oversee IT projects from end to end.
· Provide training and/or arrange training for staff on new hardware/software upgrades.
· Work with Lead Software Developer to coordinate software development projects.
· Serve as the primary contact person with all consultants.
Qualifications / Computer Skills
· Hands-on experience with desktops, laptops, mobile devices, servers, networks, and email administration.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Server and Office products. Knowledge of cloud-based Microsoft products a plus.
· Experience with Business Intelligence systems
· Experience with VMWare and virtual servers.
· Leadership and supervisory skills.
· Basic understanding of software development process and concepts.
· SQL and web development (HTML, CSS, ColdFusion, and JavaScript) skills are a plus.
· Ability to use internet and other external resources for research and help.
· Ability to work in a team environment.
· Ability to manage time and multiple requests from other employees and customers.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
B.S. or B. A. preferred; or two to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with customers who because of their success in their profession are often exceptionally busy and distracted by other responsibilities
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardizations exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
