- Paragraphs about Ivy
Ivy joined the Center for Language Education of the HKUST in 2012 and since then has been teaching both English for Academic Purposes and English for Specific Purposes (Business) courses to undergraduate students of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. In September 2014, she was invited to join the team in coordinating the Year One EAP course, LANG1002A/S/I, which is taught to close to 1,800 students every year.
In addition to her teaching and course coordination duties, as a core member of the Assessment and Evaluation Task Force in the Centre, she has also been involved in the development and administration of a large-scale cross-institution language test, English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA), which is taken by up to 2,500 students twice a year. She also trains a team of 40+ ELPA assessors regularly in rating Speaking and Writing performances.
Prior to joining the HKUST, she had worked in the English Language Centre in City University of Hong Kong for six years, teaching and coordinating EAP courses, as well as serving on the Assessment Team. Between 2007 and 2009, she also designed and delivered more than 50 sessions of a teacher training workshop to hundreds of secondary school teahers for an elective course in the new secondary curriculum on behalf of the Education Bureau. She also published a 150-page resource package for the same elective course.
