S-124 CG - Encoding exercise

21 April 2016

Introduction

In the model, a NW is composed of:

  • 1 NWPreamble, associated to0 or more ordered “warnings parts”.
  • “Warnings parts” are:
  • InformationNoticePart (0 or more) for information not geographically located

Or (not exclusive)

  • AbstractWarningPart (0 or more) with 1 or more geometry associated
  • References: A NWPreamble, a InformationNoticePart, a AbstractWarningPart is associated to 0 or more Reference (ie another NW)

By using S124_LocalizedText, a NW may be multilingual.

A NW has an Object identifier (§7.9 - URN – see here).

The tables below reflect the model (class, attributes, and values of enumerations, associations…). References to the paragraphsof the draft PS are indicated. It is important to read the paragraphs of the draft PS quoted for explanation and because it is this document that is submitted to your comments via the encoding exercise.

The tables should be copied for each example of NW you encode. For a same NW, some tables need to be copied (eg for adding an AbstractWarningPart, a geometry, etc). You are invited to fill the columns“Value that you put” in front of each attribute and “Your comment”. The most important is obviously your comments! You are invited to summarize them in a last copy of the tables and to return the document.

In the model, [1] means 1 occurrence; [0..1] -> 0 or 1 occurrence; [0..*] -> 0 or more occurrences; [1..*] -> 1 or more occurrences.

S124_AbstractWarningPart (§3.1)
Abstract super-type for a warning that is linked to a specific geographic feature in the NAVAREA. More general information about the location is provided by the generalArea and locality attributes of the relevant message series identifier complex type.
This type generally corresponds to the "Warning" section described in S-124, and includes the elements that are usually present for warnings linked to a specific location or feature(s).
Remark: This is currently an abstract type even though it has only a single sub-class because it is also a hypothetical super-type for a future specification for notices to mariners.

S124_Geometry (package) (§ 8)
Package for S-124 spatial model. This is mainly an indication of which S-100 spatial primitives are permitted in S-124, but it also defines a geographic description element.
